Rick stared down at the lifeless remains of Sophie. Her poor mother let out a lamentation and fell to the ground, away from Daryl's grasp. Her tears soaked into the hard, dusty ground. She slammed her fists into the ground. Daryl leaned beside her with his arm on her shoulder. Blood from Sophie lay beside her. She could not speak. She tried, but then wailed back toward the ground as if cursing Satan himself. Shane's face stayed cold and hard like stone. Dale could see the hate and insanity in his eyes.

"You see!" Shane yelled to Hershel. "These are not people! These are what killed everyone! These are what got Amy! These walkers aren't your family. Not anymore!"

Andrea seemed taken aback from the sensitive words that he spat. She said nothing and remained stiff in place. She planted her feet firmly on the ground. Blond wisps of her hair blocked her eyes as they were brushed towards her in the wind. She held her rifle in place. She ignored the lingering thought that Shane might be wrong.

Rick was always quick to think and to talk his way out of a situation. But now, he remained silent. Words in his head dissolved. He wanted to say something, something that could change the entire situation and maybe even Shane's twisted outlook. Keeping the walkers in the barn was a danger. But he trusted Hershel had kept everything safe. Tears flooded from Hershel's eyes. His family had now slipped away completely. Everything was gone. Everything. Even though he had tear-filled eyes, his voice remained steady.

"Go," Hershel said. Maggie looked at her Daddy and then back at Glenn.

"Dad…" Maggie began.

"LEAVE."

Maggie snapped her mouth shut and decided not to press the matter on further.

"Maggie…" Glenn began. "Come with us…"

Maggie looked at the ground and shoved her hands in her pockets.

"I can't," she replied. "I have to stay with him."

Glenn had taken these words lighter than he expected. He sighed and then looked back at the ground. He knew that he shouldn't argue.

The Group went into the house and packed their things. They headed to the treaded to the RV, their heads hung in shame. Lori grabbed Shane and pulled him back behind the house. She gave him a look of pure hate and slapped him as hard as she could. His face turned violently to the left and he looked at her. He kept his stone cold expression he had throughout the entire day.

"Shane, what in the name of hell is wrong with you?" Lori screamed in a hushed voice. Shane still kept his stone cold face.

"These things aren't people. They're Walkers."

"Shane, did you have a family before this happened? Did you ever think of them as monsters? Did you ever love them? Or were you as insane as you are now?"

Shane seemed defeated. He said nothing at first.

"That's not what we're dealing with now," Shane shot back.

"Shane, we could've had hope. A future. Medical care for Christ's sake. But you had to unlock the barn to the Walkers. And because of my… Condition, I don't think I'll do very well. Because of your stupid decision, we are all going to die. Think about that."

Lori turned around and stormed away. Shane stood there. Then something happened. He felt something click, like a switch, go off in his head. He wasn't sure what to think of it.
