A/N: A collection of "lost" scenes from each episode of Ghost Whisperer. I wanted to write something more show based that isn't an AU, and I'm rewatching the series haha. Enjoy! xx Mariah
Melinda's eyes examined the dress, each stitch, each jewel, each droop in the fabric. The material was soft against her fingertips as she touched it. It was beautiful, the kind of wedding dress she had always dreamed of wearing.
She couldn't believe it. Tomorrow was the day where her dreams came true. The day when she would be married to the love of her life. The day when in the eyes of the state, their families, and God himself saw Melinda Gordon and Jim Clancy as husband and wife.
"Would you like to try it on one last time?" The dress shop attendant asked her.
"Sadly, no. I don't have time," she sighed, smiling. "Lots of things to get done before tomorrow."
"Alright," the attendant said and carefully wrapped her dress up for her. "Here you go, Miss. Gordon. Congrats on your big day."
"Thank you," she smiled and grabbed the dress, exiting the store swiftly.
The clouds erupted as she ran to her Jeep Liberty and hung her dress out in the back. She quickly made sure everything was intact and dry before closing the trunk and racing to the front seat.
She relaxed against the cushioned seat and closed her eyes. She took in a slow breath. "Everything will slow down tomorrow," she reminded herself. "Everything you've been planning down the minute for the past year will be worth it tomorrow."
She turned her car on and watched the time flash on as she put the car in reverse.
4:30 pm
She knew her fiance was work until ten tonight and even then he wouldn't be coming home so they wouldn't accidentally see each other before the ceremony tomorrow, but maybe he had a break. They wouldn't be breaking tradition if they saw each other today, and it wouldn't hurt to find out. Melinda always enjoyed swinging by the firehouse to see Jim. She backed out from her spot in front of the dress store, drove to the firehouse, and parked outside. She shut the car off and placed her keys in her purse and grabbed her phone.
Melinda - 4:37 pm: Hey, do you have a break?
Jim - 4:38 pm: I just got back from a call, and we're playing some poker. Why?
Melinda - 4:38 pm: No reason. I was just wondering.
Jim - 4:38 pm: What do you have up your sleeve, Miss. Gordon?
Melinda - 4:39 pm: Nothing you won't enjoy. Love you
Jim - 4:39 pm: Oh alright. Love you too :)
She grabbed her purse and held it above her head as she hopped from her jeep and ran into the firehouse. It didn't help much, but instead of being soaked, she was only damp.
The smell of smoke lingered in the air as she walked past the newest rig, reminding her of the night she met her fiance. God, things had been so different then.
Melinda spotted a group of guys playing poker and quickly walked toward them before Jim had the chance to see her. "Can I be your good luck charm?" She whispered in his ear as she slowly wound her arms around Jim's chest.
"Mel... I thought you'd stop by," Jim laughed and threw out his cards on the table. "Fold."
"Since I won't see you until the ceremony tomorrow, I thought I'd stop by to get a few minutes with you," she laughed, walking around his chair to sit on his lap.
"I'm glad you came by. It starts to get boring around here when I lose." He chuckled and then kissed her cheek. "What are you doing on this side of the square anyway?"
"I had to go pick up my dress for tomorrow," she said and smoothed out her skirt as she crossed her leg over her knee. "Everything is set for tomorrow. Just need to make sure everything is set at the church and the venue for our reception."
"Think I could get a quick peek-" He smirked as he moved to stand in front of her.
"No," she laughed, the smile never leaving her face. "Not a chance." She bent her head down to press a soft kiss to his lips, his hands moved over her hips. "I missed you though" she whispered. "You left so early this morning I didn't even get the chance to kiss you goodbye."
"Well good thing I'm here now," he replied and smiled at her as her dark eyes focused on his.
Jim knew that look. He knew that look well. He craved that look. God, he loved that look.
A smirk tugged at one corner of his lips as his hands rubbed over her hips a few times before one reached behind her and rubbed her back. "So I guess I won't see you until tomorrow when you walk down the aisle," he breathed as his lips attached to the juncture of her neck and shoulder.
"I'll see you..." She almost moaned in response, her head tilting back to give him more room and nails lightly scratching over his shoulders. "...tomorrow..."
"Don't forget that my mom's taxi will be outside our house at seven. She can't wait to have a nice night in with you," he reminded her, his teeth grazed across her collarbone and she sat up straight.
"I won't forget and I'll see you tomorrow," she said with a grin before stealing another kiss.
"Afternoon, Mel," said sweet, old, Jim's mentor Sulley, with a grin on his face. "What brings you by today?"
"Hey Sully," she smiled and walked over to give the captain a hug. "I didn't have anything scheduled, so I dropped in to see how Jim's doing and say hello since I won't see him tonight. You're coming to the wedding tomorrow, right?"
"I wouldn't miss it for the world. You two kids getting married is the happiest thing to happen around this station in a while," the older man reassured her with a kiss to her cheek.
"You're too kind, Sul. I'll see you tomorrow then," she smiled at him. "Make sure he doesn't get too drunk before tomorrow for me? I know how these guys can be."
"I'll keep him out of trouble," the older man laughed as he passed Jim, clapping him on the shoulder. "Have a nice night."
Jim stood before his fiancee, grabbing hold of Melinda's hand before she had the chance to walk away. "One last kiss," he smiled.
"Okay," she whispered, winding her arm around his neck as their lips met again. As they separated, she pressed a peck to his cheek. "Be safe. I want to see you in one piece at the altar, okay?"
"Always," he smiled down at her.
"I love you," she said, her arms slowly retreating from around his neck.
"I love you too," he grumbled with a pout.
"Bye guys! I'll leave you to get back to your poker game now," she smiled toward the group of guys behind them.
Jim watched her through the window as she ran through the rain with her purse overhead and climbed into her car. She saw him through the window and waved before driving off. When he turned around, Ralph, Hector, Matt, and Bobby were sitting at the table. Then Hector started a slow clap. Then Matt and Bobby joined in. Sulley tried not to smile as he did the same from where they sat around the kitchen table. It slowly but surely progressed in raucous applause and shouts.
"Fuck off," Jim muttered and sat down to grab his new cards.
"Forget about the cards, Kitchen Bitch. I need a cigarette and some chocolate. You could even bake me some brownies," Sulley said with a wide grin.
"Oooh, I love brownies." Hector chimed in. "Does anyone else want Clancy to make brownies during this round?"
"Seriously?" He muttered to himself but did as he was told.
Jim was still the rookie around here.
