The Soldier In The Agent

AN: Veteran's Day special. Established B/B .God Bless America.

It was always hard to give this day the proper amount of credit. On one hand Booth did not wish to relive what was painful. He was not a soldier anymore. He is actively a father and FBI Agent. There is nobody to salute or shoot these days. However, it is not nothing. There had been saluting and shooting. There was pain as well as accomplishment. The way he upholds himself and his own morals is as a soldier. Learning to take direction and to know when to fight is what a soldier does. Everyone does these things. Perhaps to him it's just more familiar.

Bones is not at the lab, as it was closed for this Veteran's Day. She sits watching television, giving him time to decide what to do. He is grateful of her respect and of their newly acknowledged love. After some time he wordlessly joins her. There is no way he feels particularly strongly. The regrets and the honor he has are matched equally. She will for once not analyze him.

So they watch meaningless television silently. They hold onto another in acceptance. There is nothing to be said. Every memory is whirling in his head and she is unsure of what to say: need she say anything. They are merely grateful of another.

AN; I don't know what it's like to be a vet, but I hope this short was believable and liked. Read, review or favorite.
