Heavenly Bodies

disclaimer: not mine. they belong to someone else. someone who is not me.

The sleepovers happened some time after the joint meditation. They started with long talks into the night, no boys allowed, about before. Two planets, two Titans, two girls. Starfire talks about bright colors, affection, and homesickness. Raven talks about shadows, the void, and betrayal. Starfire always cries. Raven never does. But she doesn't push the other girl away when Starfire pulls her into her arms. The tears of the other girl run down her face and splash on Raven's dark hair. Raven likes to think the droplets have a faint green glow that stay as stars in her nightblack hair.

Starfire and Raven remember space. Sometimes they lie on their backs next to each other on the Tower roof and watch the night sky. The city lights cross the sky in unexpected ways, blurring the stars. Sometimes they lie on their backs next to each other on their beds and pretend they can see through the ceiling to the stars. Through layers of metal and glass, Starfire sees a glimmer. Sometimes they lie in each others arms and try to remember what the stars looked from home. Sometimes they lie in each others arms and make themselves forget the stars.
