DISCLAIMER: I do not own Twilight or Electronic Throat.
The wind blustered through my thick, russet locks and Edward breathed in deeply beside me.
"Mm what kind of shampoo have you been using?"
"I haven t been," I murmured, abashed, as I hadn t showered in weeks.
"Mmm, you know what I like."
Edward began hum a soft lullaby. I recognized it as 'Electronic Throat' by He is Legend, one of my favorite songs that Phil, my step-father, had given to me in a mix tape.
I began sing along to his tune.
This is how I built my wife,
Brought a dead body to life,
With the soul of a gypsy queen,
And the brightest eyes that I'd ever seen.
Gave her two murderous hands,
And two legs with the devil's dance,
And at last gave her half of my heart To make sure that we were never apart.
There must have been a mix up along the way I must have made a mistake.
Now listen closely to what I'm gonna say If you cross me, I'll cut you.
There must have been a mix up along the way,
I must have made a mistake.
Now listen closely to what we're gonna say,
If you cross me, I'll cut you.
One morning when I woke To the blackest cloud of smoke,
Seems the neighbors had conspired To bring the house down with fire Just my luck my devil bride,
Filled her lover's arms to hide.
I brought you into this world,
I will take you out baby girl.
There must have been a mix up along the way,
I must have made a mistake.
Now listen closely to what we're gonna say,
If you cross me, I'll cut you.

You weren't supposed to know how to run away,
If you cross me, I'll cut you.
If you cross me, I'll cut you.
"As you know, I'm more of a classical music person... but death metal can be so beautiful," Edward whispered when I finished, wiping a small, beautiful teardrop from his glistening satin skin.
"You're shimmering in the moonlight."
"Only because I'm so in love with you."
"Why do you love me? I m nothing."
He stood angrily. "When are you going to see yourself clearly??"
I couldn't speak; only stare at him, his aura much brighter than any star in the sky behind him.
I began to hyperventilate-- his raging beauty was-- too much--
"Bella!"
That's all I remembered before blacking out.

Through the haze, I saw blurry images of Edward and a hospital room. Once, I thought I saw him staring hungrily at my blood bag, but then I realized it was just my mom doing that. Another time, I thought I saw him gazing out the window. But it truly could not have been him... just a spectre of my past.... and then, I woke up.
