A/n- Yay for another challenge. Maybe this will cure my writer's block. :D So this is another lyric challenge. Hope you enjoy

I've been around the block a time or two

Done almost everything a boy can do

I've done some livin', yeah I've had fun

But there is one thing that I haven't done

Saved two months, bought a little diamond

Tonight's the night, feels like perfect timin'

Down on one knee on Momma's front steps,

Man I'm gonna die if she really says yes

How forever feels; Kenny Chesney

James Potter's POV

I sighed as I tried to flatten my hair. I heard my door open and Padfoot say, "You know your hair never behaves, Prongs. Stop trying. It'll be alright."

I took his advice and stopped trying to flatten my hair. After cursing my father's genes for a few seconds, I pulled on my shirt. It was one of Lily's favorites. I turned around to see that Moony had appeared in my bedroom door. "How is this?" I asked, wearily. Tonight had to be perfect.

"Stop worrying, mate. You two have been going out for a year now. There's no way she'll say no," Moony reassured me, knowing how nervous I was. "Just don't throw up on her and you'll be fine," he added as a second thought, patting my shoulder.

He did bring up a good point; I felt like throwing up. I inhaled and grabbed the velvet box off my dresser. There was really no going back. I have been saving up for two months now just to get her the perfect ring. Turning to face my two best friends, I muttered, "Well, wish me luck. And whatever you do, no spying."

They smirked and Padfoot replied as innocently as possible, "We would never spy on you, Prongs. Don't you trust us?"

I rolled my eyes at him and turned on the spot. As I opened my eyes, I faced one of the most expensive restaurants in Muggle London. But I didn't care; nothing was too good for my Lily. I realized the box was still tightly in my hand. I quickly shoved it in my pants pocket and took a deep breath. The waiter showed me to my table as I walked in.

Patience was never one of my better virtues so waiting for her to arrive was nerve racking. I was beyond nervous when the waiter showed Lily to my table. A smile formed on my face as I got a good look at her. She was breath taking in her sleeveless emerald dress and curled hair. I felt like the luckiest man in the world as she took her seat.

We made small talk until after dinner was over, mostly talking about her day at St. Mungo's and my Auror duties. I paid the bill without really noticing the price. I was smart enough to exchange Wizarding currency for muggle money. Well, I lied, it was Moony's idea. I took ahold of her hand as soon as we exited the building and smiled at her. I apparated to a park, that wasn't far from the restaurant.

Before she could ask what was going on, I pulled a box out of my pocket. Gathering my Gryffindor courage, I dropped to one knee. Her eyes grew in realization. Still holding her hand, I asked, "I love you Lily Tabitha Evans and I have since I first saw you. Will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?"

She nodded and managed, "Yes." I slipped the ring on her finger. It was a simple white gold band lined with four diamonds. I quickly got off one knee and pulled her into a kiss. I faintly remember hearing cheering in the background that sounded strangely familiar, but I didn't care. After I pulled away from the kiss, I realized that it was our friends that had been cheering and clapping loudly.

I made a mental note to get Moony and Padfoot when I got back to our flat. But right now, I was perfectly content with being with my fiancée. I couldn't wait to experience forever if it feels like this.

A/n- I love it :)
