This is post-canon animeverse, hence Yuki being able to kiss her without turning into a mouse. :)

The beach was unusually cold for a summer night, but Tohru and the Sohma family cared little as they were too entranced by the fireworks.

"I wish they could happen all year long," Tohru sighed. "They're so beautiful, just bursting with life and color and promise!"

Yuki smiled and wrapped an arm around her waist.

"So do I, Honda-s...I mean, Tohru-san," he corrected himself; she'd begun to insist that no one refer to her as Honda-san or any formality anymore, if she was to be a member of the family. Tohru smiled, leaning into his embrace.

When the fireworks ended, Yuki turned to her as the rest of the family was leaving. He took a lock of her hair between his fingers and caressed it as he drew her close. Tohru's face flushed bright red.

"Um...s-shouldn't we get going, before they leave us behind?" she asked.

"In a moment." Yuki brought his face to hers, their lips barely an inch apart. "I...Tohru-san, I've never had the courage before tonight, but...I..."

"Courage? For what?"

"To do this." He kissed her, and she responded so eagerly he realized he'd had nothing to fear all along.

"I'm glad you finally did," Tohru whispered. She took his hand, and they hurried to catch up with the others.
