A songfic on Lirael thinking about her position as Abhorsen in waiting, and later, Abhorsen. Slightly odd, I know. Kind of matches. Garth Nix owns Lirael, Sabriel and Abhorsen and Yellowcard owns the song, This is the world coming down on your head.
I
work all night
For one more day that I can say I'm all
alone
Alone
I just need time and I will say what I believe and
I'll come home
Home
Lirael thought about what she was doing. It was difficult… She didn't know anybody, sure, the current Abhorsen and Queen was her SISTER for Charter's sake… but still…
And
all I know
It had occurred to her more than once, why her?
I
never thought I would wake up in bed
watching the world coming
down on my head
I'd sleep like a dog if you would never have said
this is the world coming down on your head
She looked at her golden hand and stifled a sob… her job required sacrifices, was she willing?
As
life flies by
I'm not sure how I'm gonna do this all
again
Again
So line by line I write this down and I'm just
trying to find the end
The end
How much more would she loose? But then, how much would others loose through her decision?
And
all I know
Maybe she was meant for it… Maybe she was born to do it… Maybe it was destiny…
I
never thought I would wake up in bed
watching the world coming
down on my head
I'd sleep like a dog if you would never have said,
this is the world coming down on your head
You gave it to me I
remember it read,
you've got the world coming down on your
head
There's nothing to fight for it's already dead
and this
is the world coming down on my head
Suddenly
she knew, there was nothing worth thinking over… she knew that she
wanted a family, besides, she loved helping… when will
it all end
One of you moves the others follow you
She cursed at the stupid Dead hands, they all did the same thing, made the same mistakes. But then again, she was there! She beamed, cheering up. She'd definitely make her own mistakes…
I
never thought I would wake up in bed
watching the world coming
down on my head
I'd sleep like a dog if you would never have said,
this is the world coming down on your head
I'm not gonna
swallow the lie that I'm fed
cause I want the world coming down on
my head
You're gonna find out you're already dead
and I was
the world coming down on your head
Later on, as an Abhorsen, she knew, and was glad, she knew that she had made the right choice. She made her own mistakes, and marked a new path… And for that old saying, does the walker choose the path or the path the walker? She knew, she had chosen her path…
I know, oddly short, but I think the gist of the thing's there. I like it. I know, not my best work, but either way…
