I've been working on a few Final Fantasy VI one-shots lately, and this one I definitely couldn't wait to share. I might post the others eventually.
This fanfic is all done in the point-of-view of a now 23 year old man who had just recently made a big commitment to a 20 year old painter he's known for ten years. He figures that while he's in town, he may as well say a few words to someone, though he's not quite sure why…
Enjoy.

I honestly don't know why I'm here.
I never knew you. You never knew me.
I don't even remember what you look like, sound like, or even smell like… and I can remember smells pretty well.
Have we even met face to face?
All I remember of you is what Terra and Celes told me. They knew more about you than just about anyone.
That's probably why I'm here, at your grave. I feel like I know so much about you because of what they told me.
If you can hear me, you may have noticed my English is much better than it was when… well… you know… Ten years of living with Edgar and Sabin Figaro helped me grasp the English language.
Of course, this isn't the main reason I'm in Thamasa right now. That'd be weird, huh? Coming all the way to Thamasa from Figaro Castle so I could talk to the grave of a guy I don't even know?
No, the real reason is because… I got married! Really! No lie!
Yes, you know her… or… at least I think you do. You wouldn't recognize her now. She has grown up to be quite a woman… Yeah…
…
Sorry. Primal instincts…
I'm just glad I was able to make her happy, though. Her grandpa is quite ill. I'm shocked he was even able to come to the wedding! Still, I don't know how long he's going to have. But when the time comes, I think I know the best place for him to rest.
Right next to you.
There's… one last thing I want to say:
Thank you.
You're probably wondering why I said that.
While on the Veldt, after the world was destroyed, I fought against this ninja guy. The ninja was really tough, and I wanted to learn his moves, so I… well, "leaped" comes to mind. I've never really found of a way to describe exactly how I do what I do… Anyways, he taught me a move that looked SO cool, I wanted to try it when we faced that freak of nature, Kefka!
And I did.
It was just me, Terra, Locke, and Celes left. Relm was petrified, and everyone else was knocked out.
Terra, Locke, and Celes were relentless, dishing out move after move!
Kefka obviously didn't see me as much of a threat, so he left me alone.
Soon, my three companions were down. Kefka was suffering greatly, but he was still focused… and powerful… He tried messing with me and taunting me. Then he insulted my friends, saying they were useless and hopeless…
But then… he said something about her.
He said something that made me twitch furiously. Something about how we destroyed the Goddess statues, and that there was one more statue left to destroy. I knew he was talking about her. I knew what he was going to do, and I would not allow him to hurt her…
So I walked up to Terra's unconscious body and borrowed her sword so I could perform the move that the ninja taught me.
Ironically, the move turned out to be "Shock"…
This startled him greatly. The move itself didn't affect him as much as the fact that it reminded him of you. If you thought he snapped before… Uwao! He started shouting in the air nonsense that even I couldn't understand!
I took this opportunity to revive Terra, whom took the liberty of finishing him off once and for all.
…
I know it was you.
You were watching us, weren't you Leo? And you made sure I learned that move.
Through me, you had your ultimate revenge on Kefka.
Thank you for your help, Leo.
I owe you both my and my wife's lives.
We would not be here today if it wasn't for you.
So… I guess you do know me, then.
And I guess I know you, too.
