A good day at the job; a story, written through the eyes of Danny Messer
This is my first attempt, writing a CSI: NY fanfic. I like writing stories in Dutch, but this is my first attempt in English. English isn't my first language, so please forgeve me all grammer mistakes you'll probably find. My grammer is rubbish, I know. I hope you enjoy it; please give me some feedback!
Disclamer: The characters are not mine, they belong to CBS and Jerry Bruckheimer
Possible (small) spoilers: Episode #13, #19, #20 and #21.
"Danny, watch out, do you wanna kill me and yourself?" It's Mac, he's sitting next to me in my car. I'm driving. We're heading to a crime scene. Some guy was killed in his appartement and we're gonna processe the scene for evidence. I know I'm not the best driver in the world, but Mac is a bit overreacting here. "Calm down Mac.", I say. "I know what I'm doing." Mac starts laughing. "I'm sure you do. Now turn left here." I don't know how to deal with Mac. He's my boss, ya know, but I don't have the feeling he is fully supporting me in my job.
Now we're stuck in traffic. "Why do those grannies always have to stop in the middle of the road.", I say to myself and close my eyes for a moment. Everytime I do that, I see Macs face. An angry face. Blaming me for everything, right in the face. Why did I deserved that? Ok, it was wrong not to close that human statue case, but hey, everybody saw something was wrong there. "Danny, it's green." Mac says. I open my eyes quickly and continue my trip. Sitting with Mac in a car doesn't make me feel very comfertable. You never know in what mood he is. Sometimes, he says nothing and sometimes, out of the blue, he has something to say to you. And lately, 9 out of 10 times, it's not good. We're approaching another trafficsign. Red again. I close my eyes again. Again I see Macs face. A surpise face. I never should have told him about Tanglewood boys in the first place. I remember the look on his and Stella's face. "Danny Messer, he works for you right.", I can hear Sonny saying it, like it was yesterday. Why? Why does this al have to happen to me? Why can't the past just leave me alone? Why can't ... "Danny, what's wrong with you, you can drive." It's Mac again. "Sorry Mac." I say, and turn right. "What's wrong with you Danny? Bad night of sleep?" I take a deep breath. "Something like that Mac.", is all I can say.
We arrived at the crime scene. I park the car and step out of the car. I wanna go inside when Mac calles me. "Danny.", he says. What's he gonna say know. It better be good. "You know Danny, I had no time to tell you yet but ... you did a good job in saving the girls life in the drug case last week." He puts his arm on my shoulder. I look at him and smile. That's the first time he said something to me in the last few months. I did a good job. I take a deep breath again. So far so good today, Mac's happy with me. It looks it's gonna be a good day at the job today! Finally!
Mac and I enter the crime scene. It's a mess. "What the hell happend here?" I say to Mac. "I don't know Danny." Mac says. "But that's why were here, to find that out." Mac takes a quick look around the appartement and puts his gloves on. "Looks like the killer was propably after cash. The victims name is Jay Knight." I walk around. Today is my day, this is gonna me my scene...
