A/N: y/n means "your name". I wanted to get this published before 12 and I failed. Anyways, enjoy!

"I really hate birthdays." Sighs y/n as she pours herself a drink.

"Why is that y/n?" Asks the lovely bartender of the 7th Heaven bar who goes by the name of Tifa Lockheart.

"Because, it's hard to find them the perfect gift." But, it's even harder when concerning Cloud." The young woman replies as she gulps down the contents of her glass.

"So, you didn't bother to get him anything?" Tifa wipes down the counter as she discusses the subject regarding her good friend Cloud Strife.

"No." The young woman's face saddens upon giving her answer.

"Well, Cloud is still out doing deliveries... maybe you should look around the stores in Edge and see if something catches your eye." The bartender suggests.

"Nah, i'd just be wasting my time. Besides, even if I did get him something, there's a chance he won't like it anyway."

"It's the thought that counts y/n."

And so the day goes on without much trouble. Tifa closed the bar early to celebrate Cloud's birthday. She and the kids baked a cake and made him his favorite dinner. Y/n on the other hand, stayed in her room, not wanting anything to do with the celebration.

When y/n heard the sound of Cloud's motorcycle Fenrir, she knew what would await the blond when he enters the bar. She waits for the engine to die down, and the bell at the door that signals a customer or in this case, Cloud.

"Surprise!" Y/n hears the voices of Tifa, Marlene, and Denzel shout out.

There is another reason why y/n didn't join in on the surprise.

"Surprise for what?" She heard Cloud's calming voice.

Y/n sighs upon hearing his voice. She loves his voice, so soothing and calm. Everything about the man is calming.

Deciding to make an appearance, she descends down the steps.

"You forgot your birthday huh dumbass?" Y/n says as she enters the bar. Tifa glares at her for her foul language.

"My birthday?" Questions the swordsman.

"Yeah, it's August 19th. How could you forget your own birthday?" Tifa can't believe Cloud would forget his own birthday.

"That is why I didn't get him anything." Y/n says.

"I guess, I've been so busy that I didn't even notice." Cloud scratches the back of his head in embarrassment.

"Well, you know now Cloud! We baked you a cake! Come see!" Squeals an eager Marlene as she pulls Cloud by the hand to the kitchen.

Everyone else follows while y/n stays behind. She never did well with these kind of things.

Soon everyone other than y/n had cake and Cloud opened his presents. After all the excitement, Tifa serves dinner which y/n joins in on.

"Thanks for everything you guys. It made my day." Cloud says during dinner.

"You're welcome." Everyone says in unison.

Later while Tifa puts the kids to sleep, y/n does the dishes. Cloud stays in the kitchen with her watching her.

"So, you got me nothing for my birthday?" Cloud questions.

"I knew you would forget and I knew you don't care for such things as presents." Y/n shrugs.

"I can think of something." Y/n hears Cloud push back his chair as he stands up.

"Well, I didn't think you would make such a big deal about it."

"It's not a big deal, but when it comes to you, it does." Cloud walks closer to her.

Y/n dries her hands off as she turns to face him.

"So, you're saying that you wanted me to give you something?" Y/n looks into his electric blue eyes.

"Yes." He bluntly answers.

"Okay, so what do you want for your birthday?" The young woman asks.

"This." The blond warrior closes in on her and before she can register what's happening, his lips are on hers.

His lips felt as smooth as silk and she can't help but give in.

When he pulls away, she is left breathless.

"Also, I want a date to go with that." And Cloud shows her a rare smile.

"Hmm, only if I get to kiss you again birthday boy." Y/n smirks as she leans in.

"Consider it done." With that, he seals the deal with his lips on hers.
