an: I just listened to the "Obliviate" Piano Version from the DH soundtrack and it just inspired me. Drabble/one-shot-esq. I'm sort of in love with angst. I'm sorry that I haven't been on as of late. I'm addicted to Tumblr and all of the new friends that I've made on there. Just so you all know, this is Merc/Child of the Masquerade and this is my second account because I just thought there were too many stories on my other account.
The life of Massie Block was a seemingly perfect one. She was beautiful, smart, and had every single thing that she wanted handed to her on a silver-no, platinum-platter. But if you knew her, if you really knew her, you would realize that her life was actually very far from it. She had very large problems in her life during her junior year of high school, especially those that involved a certain Cameron Fisher...
"I just can't leave Claire!" Cam said. "I can't! Not after all that we've been through."
"Don't I matter?" Massie nearly shouted at him, her auburn hair flying wildly around her small head as she whipped her face around to face his. "Don't you care about me?"
"Massie, you know that you mean everything to me! I can't live without you and you're my only girl," replied Cam, desperation in his voice.
"Then you have to choose, Cam," Massie told him, sadness seeping into her voice. "Her...or me."
"Why do I have to choose? You know that I'm only with her because I don't want her to go off and kill herself," Cam spoke. "Do you think that I can live with that on my conscience for the rest of my life?" Massie dropped her gaze to the floor.
"If I can't have you to myself, than I won't have you at all," she told him, making her way to his door, stomping on his marble floor with her new Prada stilettos.
"Massie, wait," Cam moved to grab her arm, but she quickly snapped it away.
"No, Cam. Massie Block does not share."
"Why are you acting like this, Mass?" Cam shouted as Massie started to walk away. "You know that Claire doesn't even begin to compare to you!" Massie stopped and turned around, her amber eyes boring into his one blue eye and one green eye.
"Because when you're here and you hold me, it feels like everything's magic," she whispered fiercely, her heart in her throat. "And when I see you with her, it's like everything you've told me, every time you've whispered something sweet into my ear-it feels like it's all been one big lie. It feels like...like I don't matter at all, and if you can't choose between us, than I'll just make it easy for you."
When you love someone, you have to let them go. If they come back, they love you, and if they don't...well life goes on. Massie Block never went back that day, and Cameron Fisher never chased after her. When Monday came, they acted like nothing had ever transpired between them. They acted like it was business as usual for the rest of the school year, but after summer had come and gone, the people of Westchester, New York would only ever see Massie Block in magazines and on television, hiding the feelings of loss, regret, and sorrow from the rest of the world.
Explanation: I don't know if I made this clear enough, because it may just be a tiny bit confusing, but it was really Cam who left her by not breaking up with Claire. By Cam not chasing after her, Massie knew that he didn't love her, so she was quietly hurting.
Reviews are nice. Concrit is a treasure.
