~Finding Nina~
:3 Hope you enjoy.
"Amber! Amber! Where are you?"
I screamed throughout my tiny apartment. My best friend, Amber Millington, was somewhere in my apartment, trying to embarrass me. See, I used to love this girl, and still do. I am a writer, and I recently have written poems about my lost love. Amber of course wants to read them and make fun of me for it.
I walk into my bed room to find her rummaging through my drawers.
"You'll never find the poems about Nina, I have hidden them where you will never find them."
I smirk at her. Her eyes scan my room. Small, but decent.
A queen size bed with a blue and gray plaid comforter, a small desk with my laptop neatly closed where I work on stories, a small dresser, a bed side table, and a small closet on the right. Next to that closet door is the door to my bathroom. You walk through my bathroom, and it leads to my living/kitchen room area.
A small kitchen counter space with a white refrigerator, a bar with three black stools, on the other side of the bar, a dinning room table for two, then a couch and a flat screen TV. Simple, but I like simple, and since I am the only one living here, besides Amber who stays the night sometimes because she claims I am too "isolated", this apartment is perfect for me. I love the cozy feeling of it. If only I had someone so share it with.
She sits on my bed and scans the room again.
"I'll find them someday," She sighs, "just like I'll find Nina someday."
"Oh, Amber. I promise you, I am doing everything I can. I am thinking about her all the time." Her eyes fill with sympathy for me.
"I know. Don't worry, we will find her. " She walks towards me and gives me a hug.
"It is just hard. With no living relatives to track down, she could be anywhere. Her Facebook hasn't been updated since high school. She changed her number. And probably her address too." I sit down on the bed next to Amber.
"I just worry about her, you know? She could be homeless, I can't help but assume the worst!" She cries, and puts her head into my shoulder. She takes a moment to calm, and turns to face me.
"I mostly worry about you. I mean, when's the last time you even had sex?"
"Amber!" My checks fill with embarrassment. I release her and stand up.
"That is none of your business!" I run my fingers through my curly brown hair.
"I am guessing it has been a while, then. Or never, possibly. In high school you and Nina were gone many times without anyone knowing where you where..."
"Shut up, Amber!" I throw a pillow at her face, and she catches it and giggles. She stands up and grabs her purse off of my desk.
"Well, I should probably get home to Alfie. He doesn't like me driving on the streets at night. " I nod, and she walks over to me to give me a hug again.
"I promise you, we will find her."
With that, she walks out the door and leaves me in my thoughts.
