She looked into his eyes with tears threatening to fall as she contemplated the situation. She hated meeting in secret, but if it was the only way to see him, so be it. It was wrong for them to be together this way, but she couldn't help it. She was in love. In love with one of the most powerful men in the world. Not only was he the president of the United States, but Fitzgerald Grant was a married man. They hadn't spoken in months and Olivia constantly ducked his calls mainly due to the fact that his administration was onto him, as was his wife. Now here he was, in her home, begging for at least half an hour of her time. As much as she wanted him, she knew she had to turn him away.

"I'm sorry, Fitz." The first tear slowly fell, followed by more. "You need to go. Mellie needs you and is probably wondering where you are." She turned away and slowly started walking toward the couch, mainly to avoid him seeing her cry.

Fitz ran a hand through his hair in frustration. "But I need YOU, Liv! I haven't seen or heard from you in months! I finally get the chance to sneak away for half an hour and you're sending me away?" He turned her to look at him and his heart broke at the sight of her. It was clear she was hurting and he would do anything in his power to make her feel better. He put his hand on her cheek and swiped away a few tears with his thumb. "I love you, Olivia Pope, and one day we will be together. I promise you that. You're too important to me to let you go without a fight." He pulled her tiny frame to his and held on tight. She lifted her gaze to look at him while he bent down to kiss her. He claimed her mouth in a gentle yet passionate way as he tried to show her just how much he loved her. When they both were out of air, they stood in her living room still holding each other and not wanting to let go.

"You, Liv. You're all I need." He tightened his embrace as much as he could without squeezing her too hard. "Someday. I promise."

As he let her go and walked toward the door, she took a deep breath. Even though things were complicated between them now, she knew he would keep his promise. Someday, they would finally be happy together, but today was not that day.
