Flash of Hair

~ Sirius & Marlene ~

Flash of hair is what Sirius Black remembers the most from that faithful night.

Her blonde hair was the first thing he saw as he and the rest of the order hurried onto the McKinnon lawn to see that the battle was long started and bodies were already shattered on the ground - only empty lifeless creatures, with empty eyes staring into the nothingness.

He wanted to run towards her and help her, but wasn't allowed to; instead he had to fight his own death eater.

He also remembers her laughter, it made chills form on his arms to know that she was here and maybe fighting her. That his cousin might actually end up hurting his … Marlene.

Another flash of blonde her and then there was a scream, he stopped for a moment and looked for another dead person, someone had fallen, but it wasn't her.

He breathed.

Another scream and a flash of black hair – It wasn't her.

"Great of you to join the battle Black."

That was her. That voice was hers.

He turned around, but not completely after all he was fighting his own Death Eater. And indeed there she was, her messy hair flying around her shoulders as she cast a spell towards the masked man fighting her.

Sirius cast a charm at his own enemy. "Couldn't have you do it all on your own Marlene."

He knew that she was sad, after all this was her house; some of her family members had already fallen.

"Are you okay?" he managed out "Just apparate away if it's too much-"

"No." she said "DUCK!" she then suddenly screamed and he did what he was told and ducked, just as a green spell flew over his head and hit the death eater she had been fighting.

"Thanks." he said as he cast a spell at his own Death Eater that flew back.

"You're welcome." she said out of breath.

"Marlene I mean it-" he choked out

"I don't need to go." she said "Just watch out for your self Black okay?" she said and then another flash of blonde hair and she had disappeared into the crowd even before he could tell her to make sure she'd be okay.

The fight kept going for a longer time than any of them had thought and then suddenly, there was a flash of blonde hair and a scream and then someone fell do the ground and everyone stopped moving and then the Death Eaters were gone.

Sirius had watched the whole thing, he watched the flash of her blonde hair, and the screams of her friends and the green light coming from his cousin's wand as it hit his girl.

And then she fell.

So he ran for it, he ignored the screaming as he ran towards her, kneeled down on the ground and pulled her body from it and up into his lap. "Marlene?" he asked and nudged her shoulders.

She did nothing.

He slapped her on the face. "Marlene!"

She didn't move.

He slapped her again, even though he had sworn never to hit a woman.

But she had to fucking move.

"Marlene!"

"Sirius." Lily whispered behind him "It's okay."

But it wasn't. It was everything else than okay.

"Marlene," his voice was broken as he shook her lifeless body again.

He stared into her open wide blue eyes that stared into the emptiness, her golden hair hung loosely around her shoulders - dirty with mud and sweat, her ruby colored lips gracing her face with a forever-lasting smile.

Marlene McKinnon was gone.
