"Would you mind reading for Tony?"

And with that, Kurt left, fighting back tears. He couldn't believe that they would say things like that about him.

He waited outside the auditorium doors, pulling out his copy of Jane Eyre and starting on the next chapter he had to read. It was ten minutes at most before Blaine came out of his audition. He stood up and took a deep breath, composing himself. "So, how'd it go?" he asked, voice wavering a bit.

"Well," Blaine started, shifting his bag on his shoulder. "They asked me to read for Tony." He paused and looked at Kurt, catching the flash of sadness that took over his features for a second.

"And?"

"I politely declined," he continued with a small smile, walking towards his locker. He heard Kurt taking quick steps behind him.

"Excuse me, Blaine, you did what?" Kurt asked, disbelief coloring his tone.

"I declined," Blaine confessed as he undid his lock and opened his locker. "Yeah, I'd love to play Tony, but… I have another year to play a lead role in a musical. And plus, you really, really want to get that part. I don't mind giving all that up to see you happy." He put the last book in his locker and slammed it shut, holding out a hand with a smile.

Kurt took the hand and started walking to the parking lot with Blaine, arms swinging gently between them. "You're… you're really sweet to do that… Thank you." He was choking back tears again, but this time for a different reason.

Blaine stopped them in the hallway, glanced around quickly, and pressed a quick but loving kiss to Kurt's lips. "I love you," he told him simply.

"I love you too. Tell me again, how did I get such a perfect boyfriend?"

"Just luck, maybe?" He winked.

"Coffee at the Lima Bean?" Kurt unlocked his car and put his bag in back with Blaine's.

"I thought you'd never ask."
