Once upon a time in a kingdom far, far away, there lived a beautiful princess. The princess had once gone on a magical journey, but she never forgot, even as time had passed. She still dreamed of the Goblin King-Jareth. She could imagine his gorgeous unmatched eyes staring back at her and the scent of peaches lingered. She had developed an obsession for white barn owls. They were beautiful creatures, but the real reason for her obsession was a particular owl that moved shape between king and owl. She had almost given up hope that he would come, but she didn't easily accept defeat.

So she called upon him. She waited. And waited. And finally, he came. She had left her window open, always. Just in case he decided to come back.

He transformed right in front of her eyes. It was like nothing she could describe. The way that the feathers turned to flesh. It reminded her of the only other time she had witnessed this. The last time she saw him. After she had rejected him. Rejected his offer to give her anything she asked and more. Rejected his love. She had come to realize, too late, that she had broken the king's heart in not accepting. It also broke her own heart.

Now she knew what the choice to make was. It was so obvious. Perhaps it had been obvious before, but she was blinded by her purpose. To save her brother. Now her brother was safe and it was only her and him.

Only two broken hearts were on the line and there was not much left to be lost. She had already sacrificed too much. So had he. But neither would show weakness, not to the outside world. But only to each other. It was difficult for them both, but worth it. Now they could be together. They did not know how long that would be or the trials they would face, but they had the greatest power in the world on their side. Love.
