A Special Bouquet

One-shot. I'm not sure where it came from. The idea just came to me, and I typed it up. Please Read and Review, and feel free to point out any errors!

Ino and Sakura: age 5, at the Yamanaka Flower shop;

Ino and Sakura pushed the glass door open and stepped inside the flower shop, grinning broadly. The two friends had just returned from a 'mission' to make bouquets to sell.

"Hello!" Ino's father beamed down at the two children and smiled. "What have we got here?"

"Sakura and I finished the bouquets you told us to make!" Ino said, while bouncing on the tips of her toes. Sakura smiled shyly.

"Well, then, lets take a look. Hmm, cosmos and fujibakama. What a nice combination! I'm pretty sure this will sell for quite a bit!"

Ino held her head up proudly. "Now look at Sakura's!"

He took the bouquet from Sakura's tiny fingers and smiled. "This is rather cute as well. I'll be putting both of these up in the window-sill for everyone to see!" Sakura smiled wanly and hopped out of the store behind Ino.

Later that afternoon Sakura and Ino returned to the flower shop. Ino eagerly looked up at her father, who showed her the coins he'd received for his daughter's bouquet. Impressed, Sakura shifted her glance to the window-sill. Disappointed, she found her bouquet still jostling about in the wind.

"Don't worry. People probably just didn't have enough change with them to pay for it," Ino tried to reassure her friend. Full of unsure hope, Sakura skipped out after Ino.

That evening, around dusk, Sakura left Ino earlier than usual, saying that she had couple of things to do before bed. After saying her goodbyes, she headed toward her house.

However, instead of going straight home, she took a small detour. When she got to her intended destination, the Flower Shop, she anxiously looked into the window-sill.

It's still there. Ino's bouquet sold just an hour after she'd brought it to her father. Mine's still there.

Feeling crushed, Sakura headed home. She was too upset to notice the small, dark figure watching from the shadows.

The next morning, Sakura unenthusiastically walked down the winding roads of Konoha, purposely avoiding the Yamanaka Flower Shop.

She sighed. Why can't I be more like Ino? She's so perfect, cute, and cheerful. This huge forehead of mine must be a curse or something.

Not paying attention to where she was going, Sakura wondered along the rows of houses, wondering what happened to all that happiness that was in her yesterday.

Suddenly, she bumped into something… no, someone. Shaken out of her thoughts, she looked up, dazed. An empty frog-purse fell to the floor.

She found herself looking right into a bright, blond head. When Sakura stepped back, she saw Uzumaki Naruto. And in his arms, he held the bouquet Sakura had made the day before.
