Disclaimer: I don't own etc, etc.
Claimer: I do own this strange idea.
Pairing: Percy/Pansy
AN: I am messing around with different writing techniques, and that is the reason for this. Yes, it's odd and things but hopefully it makes sense. It's also my first Harry Potter fanfiction in quite a while, attempted whilst I got over Harry Potter writing block. (Oh, and the GOF movie is amazing. Mike Newell is a God).
A Thousand Ways
There were a thousand ways to say, "I love you". Percy had used them all.
There was the "I love you" that you shouted across the bedroom when your best friend refused to listen to a single would you said. It would throw the room into silence as you waited for their response.
There was the silent "I love you" to the air, pretending that perhaps your ex-friend would be there to hear it and believe it. Words spoken to keep you sane.
There was the "I love you" used when that friend was finally done with thinking and decided perhaps it was the right time to admit love to themselves. Most often used before the first gentle kiss.
There was the "I love you" muttered as you lay there in bed, listening to them breathe.
There was the "I love you" on the wedding day, spoken in front of friends and family.
There was the "I love you" muttered as you knelt in front of them, convincing them to forgive you.
Yes, Percy had used them all. But it had never been used back on him. He supposed that came from being married to a Slytherin; renowned for being heartless and uncaring. But she wasn't heartless and uncaring – she was gentle, soft, touching.
Those were three words he wished to leave her lips, to be spoken to him with all of the feeling she could muster. She was cold, but so thoughtful. She was difficult but so scared. Percy loved her. Loved everything about her.
He'd been the one that had first admitted his love. He had been he first one to whisper love to an empty room. He'd been the one loving when they first kissed. He'd been the one muttering words of love to a sleeping lover. He'd been the one speaking of love in front of friends and family. He'd been the one begging love with forgiveness.
Pansy had been the one that had whispered it to his grave.
