Her hands balled up into small, pebble like fists, tears pooled into her eyes, and frustration turned into nervous fear.

"D-Daddy?" Whined little Marinette, and she stared up into her father's face, having went home with her mommy and having dealt with hearing the principal tell her again that she really shouldn't have fought with Chloe. Chloe was just so mean though! She was a big, ole meanie, and she couldn't believe that the girl's parents didn't raise her better, but everything didn't mean anything when she was about to get into huge trouble.

"Marinette." He spoke up, and suddenly, her tears welled up bigger and wetter than ever before.

"Daddy, Chloe was being mean again. She was calling me names like little peasant, and I got really, really angry." Marinette sighed, and she knew that even later, she'd be in huge trouble for this again. It's just, she couldn't help but shove that girl, yell back at her, but she wasn't even sure if she'd ever be brave enough to handle this afterwards. Marinette already felt pretty bad.

"Marinette, let me tell you a secret." Her father, Tom, crouched down and met her eyes with a slightly wobbly smile and tears in his eyes, "It's one that my daddy shared with me when I was about your age too."

"What's the secret, Daddy?" Marinette's knees wobbled and shook, but she still leaned forward to try to listen to her daddy, still a little worried that she was about to get into huge trouble.

"A daddy doesn't just love his children every now and then. It's a love without end, Marinette." His smile stopped being so wobbly, and Marinette stared up at her daddy with awe.

"You'll love me no matter what?" Marinette's blue eyes went wide as she met her father's steady gaze.

"Yeah." Tom stood up, "But right now, you'll have to apologize to Chloe and try to be a little nicer."
"Why?" Marinette stared up at him.

"One kind act can change someone's life, and who knows if Chloe even goes home to a happy family like you've got. She might need it." Tom told her.

"But, she has so much money! She's always wearing pretty clothes to school, and her daddy works for the city as the mayor. It, she has everything." Marinette pouted.

"Her daddy's famous, and she has a lot of money. That doesn't mean that she's happy, Marinette." Tom Dupain smiled down at his daughter, "How about you come help me out in the kitchen while we talk about your punishment for acting up?"

Marinette pouted, but she followed her father dutifully, slightly worried about how much trouble she'd actually be in though happy that her daddy still loved her.
