Searching for a New Beginning Epilogue
It's been two months since Daisy left Maine. She's back to her own life and Ezra back to his. They hadn't really kept in contact like they had promised. They only email about once a week and have only talked on the phone three times.
Ezra hasn't been himself since she left. He's been almost depressed and at times all he does is sulk around the house. Even Samantha has noticed his change.
"Daddy, why are you so sad?" she asked him one time.
He sat her on his lap and buried her head in her thick mane of curls. "I miss Daisy."
"I do, too. How come she had to leave?"
"She has a job in Nevada. She couldn't stay here."
"Oh. But she loved you, Daddy. When you love someone, aren't you supposed to get married?"
"That's what I always thought."

Now Ezra is still upset about Daisy leaving, but he has learned to go on without her. He tries to forget about her sometimes, but she always creeps up in the back of his mind. He often wonders about what they had together, what they could have together. At this point, Ezra doesn't think they'll ever have anything together.
Ezra sits at his computer and is finishing up a project he had been working on at work. Frustrated, he rapidly clicks his mouse and pushes his hair out of his eyes. His program never seems to want to work and his computer is always too slow.
The doorbell rings, breaking Ezra's concentration. He figures it's just Sarah letting him know that she's coming in so he doesn't get up from his seat.
Hearing the doorbell again, he realizes that it's not Sarah and he angrily gets up from his chair. He doesn't feel like dealing with salesmen, political people, or any other annoying person that might be at the door.
He walks over to the door and gets ready to tell who ever it is to go away. But he stops dead in his tracks.
"Daisy?!"
She gives him a bright smile and flings herself into his arms. They kiss, a warm, welcoming kiss.
"What are you doing here?"
"I can't live without you, Ezra. I've been miserable. I sold my firm and I moved out here. I have an apartment five minutes from here."
"When did you get here?"
"My stuff got here yesterday. I got here today."
Ezra wants to jump up and down with happiness, but he restrains himself.
"And I have one more thing to tell you," Daisy says with a gleam of happiness in her eyes.
"What?"
"Yes."
"Yes for what?"
"Yes, I'll marry you."
THE END

I'd like to thank everyone who's reviewed this story. All your comments really kept me motivated. I have a few other short stories in the works and well, this story is left open for a sequel if I ever decide to write one. I also have a webpage in the works, so hopefully that'll be done soon, too. Thanks again, everyone!
