True Eevee-lution

Evolving.

To adapt, the dictionary says.

But what pokemon actually evolve?

What pokemon truly adapt to their surroundings, truly evolve?

We do.

We are the Eons.

If we live in a place with an abundance of water, islands, swamps, beaches, we evolve into a Vaporeon, a creature of the sea. We would hunt in the water, finding our substance in the only place available to us. We would find fun in the sea, we would have space. The land we were on what seemed so long ago was cramped, so we evolved.

If we live in darkness, in caves of thick forests, we would evolve into an Umbreon, a creature of the darkness, blending in with the shadows. We could also produce our own light, luring foes into security, or blinding with light in the darkness. We could tread easily, for we became the predators, not the prey.

If we live in hot areas, like volcanoes, or harsh deserts, we would evolve into a Flareon, a creature of the flames. We would thrive and flourish off of the heat. We could stay alive in the heat, no longer dying from water deprivation. We could run as fast as we wanted, no longer worried about sweating. We could find the food among the depths of the volcano, our inner fires absorbing the heat and powering us further to find prey.

But if we live on top of a mountain, were the cold bit at our heels, binding us together for warmth, we evolved into Glaceon. The cold would no longer steal our energy; keep us from leaving our dens, freeing us to roam. We could become invisible in the ever-lasting hail, become the ultimate predator. The mountains became our territory, a territory of safety for all of our species.

And when we ended up in large cities that destroyed our old habitat we of course adapted. We adapted into a Jolteon. We no longer fear roaming the city, our speed freeing us. And we found sustenance in the electricity, ironically the life-blood of the city dwelling human. We could paralyze any human stupid enough to challenge us, or flee with our speed. We finally had a defense against the ultimate predator. We were no longer prey.

And in the meadows, the light forests, the lush greens, we became Leafeon. No longer were predators a threat to us, for we could hide human stupid enough to try and catch us. We could fight the predator, the ones that dwindled our numbers to very few long ago.

And in the plains that we enjoyed before they became cities, we found the sun. Always beating down on us, always present, we became Espeon. We harnessed the sun; we used it to power us. We became creatures of the morning, our jewels absorbing the power of the beautiful morning sun.among the brush easily, our bodies looking like foliage. So we were no longer scared.

No other pokemon can claim the same species of themselves can live in an arctic mountain and volcanic soil at the same time. We can live in an urban metropolis, no problem. We can live anywhere. Everywhere.

We are the survivors.

We lived, we laughed, we loved, and we evolved.

We are the eons.

This is longer than my other, more angsty poems. And yes, I made a horrible pun for the title.

R&R!
