Just a little Klaroline drabble : )

Her hands shook as she opened the door, stepping slowly into the massive house. There were no lights on, and she crept quietly toward the staircase, listening for any sort of movement. She was halfway up the stairs before she heard a creak, like someone walking. She froze, but the creaking didn't come any closer. Not walking, pacing.

If he found her now, she'd lose every last bit of courage she had. She still needed to talk herself in to this.

There was a short path to his door from the staircase, and she stood at the top of the steps, nervously twisting her hands around. The darkness cloaked her like a blanket, as she listened to him pacing about his room.

She jumped as her phone vibrated in her pocket, and she quickly pulled it out to check it.

"I'm leaving in the morning. I'll miss you, very much. Take care of yourself."

Rolling her eyes, she slipped the phone back. But, still, she couldn't bring herself to bridge the gap between herself and the door.

Her hands nervously tugged on her dress, wondering if she should go home and change, again.

"Don't be ridiculous. He likes you in anything, as annoying as that is." She muttered to herself.

The pacing stopped, and she froze, inching backwards down the stairs.

Her phone began to buzz again. A phone call. This time she answered.

"H-h-hello?" She whispered.

"Caroline, are you on my stairs?"

"Um. No." Shit. She turned and started tip toing quickly down the stairs.

The door creaked open above her, and a new burst of speed took her in to the kitchen.

"Are you sure? Because I can hear you."

"You're crazy. We've gone over this." Dammit. She pushed through in to his study, looking for a door to the backyard.

"Crazy? So, am I hallucinating? Because I can see you."

Caroline gasped, looking up to meet his eyes. She slowly lowered her phone, and pressed end, watching as he did the same.

"What are you doing here?"

"Um. See. About that." Caroline started wringing her hands again, not looking at the Original hybrid, who leaned against the door frame to watch her with amusement.

"I'm waiting."

"So, you're leaving, and, uh, I remembered what you said to me a few months ago, about taking me wherever I wanted to go."

"And you want to go?"

"Yes."

"And that led to you sneaking around my house, how?"

"Oh, you know me. Silly Caroline. Can I go now?"

"Nope."

"Why?"

"I thought you wanted to come with me?"

"I do. But, I didn't know if the offer was still open."

"I told you I'd wait."

"Ok, but you're a guy. And guys say whatever they have to to get what they want."

Klaus raised an eyebrow. "And what has ever led you to believe that I am just another guy?"

"I don't know."

"Is Tyler aware?"

"No."

"Interesting." Klaus sighed. "You know, sweetheart, I'd love to take you, but I'm not quite sure this isn't another distraction tactic."

"It's not! I want to go!"

"With me? Or just go?" Klaus's face was suddenly all too vunerable, making Caroline's heart race.

"With you. I want to go with you."

"Why?"

Caroline swallowed hard, her mouth not wanting to form her true feelings. A tear slipped from her eye, and Klaus flashed over to wipe it away, tilting her head to look in to her eyes.

"Why, Caroline?"

"Because I think this is the closest I've ever come to being loved, and if you leave, so does that. And, I can't stop thinking about you. No matter what I'm doing, or who I'm with. I just think about you. I want to go wherever you go."

Klaus smiled, the most human smile she'd ever seen on his face.

"Where to, love?"

Hope you enjoy : )
