A little Freechamp Halloween fic to get you in the mood

Rita hung her coat up on the hook and crept into the living room, however her favourite brunette wasn't in her usual spot finishing paper work, in fact, her laptop was turned off and placed on top of the monopoly box (which they were up all night playing together the previous evening).

She took several steps into the kitchen, however the light was turned off and the bowls and plates from breakfast were still scattered messily by the sink, the tap dripping ever so slowly.

"Connie! I'm home, where are you?" Rita shouted, her voice echoing throughout the large house which Connie owned and that Rita had just recently moved into. Rita knew Connie should be at home as she promised that she would go home before Rita and start making dinner for them both when they were having lunch earlier in the day. However, the consultant was nowhere to be found…

"Connie, if this is some sort of joke..," Rita was cut off by a noise coming from upstairs, a sort of old television noise, a grey noise, crackling in the silence.

Rita, now worried, reached the bottom of the stairs, calling Connie's name in worry. She slowly ascended up the to the landing, peering round every corner, fear boiling inside her.

"Connie sweetheart, where are you? Are you okay?" Rita whispered, carefully treading from room to room.

A few moments of silence passed until Rita heard someone else's breath in the darkness of the second floor.

"RAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRR," a pair of hands flew across Rita's chest and she screamed so loudly the older woman stepped back.

"Happy Halloween," a huge grin spread across Connie's face at how much she scared Rita.

"Oh my god Connie, you scared the living daylights out of me, don't ever do that to me again", no matter how serious or angry Rita tried to be, she ended up smiling at the event which just happened. Both women howled with laughter, stumbling into one another, tears of sheer laughter in their eyes, it was the best Halloween either of them ever had.
