29/JUL/2018: just a little warmup as i try to get back into the format of ffn's writing — featuring my skyward sword linksona safilix being a dumbass and fi helping him out. (safilix has a roleplay blog on tumblr if you want to learn more about him— link is safilink .tumblr .com !
"Master, that's not advised."
Said Master is leaning pretty far over the edge of a very much bottomless pit in the Lanayru Mining Facility.
"Do you think if I threw a rock down there it wo—would hit the bottom?"
If Fi had the facial flexibility to look disappointed, she would certainly be taking advantage of that capability now. The structure of her face being what it is, she settles for a metallic sigh instead. "There is a 100% chance that a simple rock would not be heard upon reaching the presumed bottom of this pit." Please don't ask another stupid question. She can't deal with this today.
Safilix puts a hand to his chin and asks (you guessed it) a stupid question. "What about, like— a boulder?"
The boy seems oblivious to his blade's suffering. She shakes her head again, pulling the Hero by the arm with a spectral hand so he doesn't accidentally test the drop with his own body. "That would be both physically impossible and ill-advised, Master."
A pout stretches across the young man's face, but he allows Fi to drag him away from the edge of the pit of unknown depth. With a deep, exaggerated sigh, he draws the Master Sword and turns around to continue the Timeshift Stone puzzle he's been working on. Fi exhales in relief— the stupid stuff is over, at least for another while.
She is wrong, unfortunately.
"Hey, Fi."
"Yes, Master?"
"Do you think if I took a ti—tiny piece of Timeshift Stone, I could carry it around and see what other places looked like in the p—past?"
Pause. Fi manages to make her deadpan look even more affectionately fed up. "Perhaps, Master, but Timeshift Stones can only be cut using special tools that do not exist in the present time. And I do not think the White Sword will make a satisfactory replacement for such tools."
"Darn it."
