Cami was sat on her couch with her pen and block note in hands. On the opposite couch sat Leila Richards, she was a patient who suffered of stress post-traumatic. Leila had been with someone who was abusive both mentally and physically, she was slowly building up her life with the help of Cami. The blond woman made Leila talk about everything on her relationship, the way her husband used to be with her or with their friends. Leila survived with her abusing husband for twenty-two years, she met him at 19 years old and married him at 20. She's now 43 years old all by herself.
"What about your daughters? Do they ignore you still?" Questioned Cami breaking off the silence.
Leila rubbed her hands together and nodded slightly. "I haven't talk with them for 3 years two weeks and 6 days. They refuse my calls, I don't even know where they are living."
"This is our third session together, and you haven't talk about them yet. Is there reason? Are you ashamed of something that happened when Jake-your husband was still alive?" she looked at the woman before her with concern.
"I- They left this long way ago because of Jake, they said this couldn't just happen my whole life. They told me they were leaving and that I should leave too that.. if I wanted to see them again or if I wanted to live I should run away too. But I just couldn't." Leila explained with a sad voice.
"Why you couldn't run away Leila?"
"I didn't want to be alone.. I was afraid to be left alone if I wasn't with him anymore. My mother used to tell me that no matter what a man does we women can't leave them for mistakes, we had to accept no matter what they did."
"But this what happened right? You were left alone."
"Yes.." she trailed off. "He died and all of my friends turned they back on me, he was you know the leader though he hurt me he was the one who brought these friends to me."
"How do you feel about this?" Asked Cami.
"Doctor I don't know if anyone could ever understand this."
"I do Leila, truly I do I knew someone who was naive and fell under the spell of a leader man."
"Really?" The patient asked. "What happened? If I may."
"You may, it's good to know you aren't the only one. This person I knew.. was married to a leader, they were a whole family of friends. They around 10 people, the husband of this.. friend was kind of abusing her mentally and he twice hurt her physically, when he left her for good she lost everyone she had by her side. She lost her friends, her children. Out of the 10 people only 3 of them stick around," Cami took a slight pause before talking again. "She still have them but it's just not the same, they talk less nor of them actually wonders how she feels if her smiles are true or if she does actually have new friends."
"What happened to her Doctor? How does she live now? Because I wonder if I am the only one to have problems."
"Now, she lives alone. She spent her whole days working and her whole nights drinking, she tries to make friends and find a new lover but she has trust issues she struggle in being the one to talk to other. I think what she'd need is that- her friends would present her to their own friends so she wouldn't be feeling that alone and empty all the time. Tell me Leila, do you have old friends who are by your side for a long moment?"
"I do, I have a friend named Adele we met 5 years ago."
"Does she have new friends?" asked Cami.
"Yes- But do you think she would present them to me?"
"If she's a good friend she will, you won't be alone Leila I promise you."
THE END
