Cas sat as still as possible on the top branch of an oak tree. Below him was the subject of his complete attention. The Winchesters. Yet again they were up to something and he had not been invited. He hated not being invited.

He would often make the joke to Gabriel that the winchesters were his soap opera. Then Gabriel would warn him to not get attached, as if it wasn't painstakingly obvious that Gabriel was infatuated with Sam.

Castiel brought his focus back to the scene below him. What were they doing? It looked like they were just talking. But what could be so important that they had to meet in such a remote place as a forest? As graceful as he could, Castiel lowered himself down a few branches, just close enough so snippets of the conversation floated up to him.

"...can't ever know.."

"...got to tell him…."

"Sammy, never…."

"Dean…..Castiel…. tell him…."

Cas' eyes widened. They were talking about him? Telling him something? What if they didn't need him anymore? What if they said they didn't want him around anymore? Surely not. Castiel had done nothing but help them. Granted, he did make a few bad decision along the way, but had it not been in an attempt to help them?

"Dean if you don't tell him I will." Sam's voice had grown louder with frustration.

Dean was equally as exasperated as Sam. "Sam, you don't understand, it could ruin everything!"

Castiel was tense with anxiety. He lowered himself another branch and stared at the two boys, who were now sitting in silence glaring at each other. Cas really looked at them. Dean's strong jaw. His broad shoulders. Sam's soft face and puppy like looks. Castiel briefly thought back to when Sam had lost his soul and a small shudder ran through him. He had never been as fond of Sam as he was Dean, but when he was soulless Castiel couldn't bring himself to care for him as deeply as before. Yet, when Dean was a demon Castiel had loved him the same, if not more.

"Cas, look man, I got to talk to you. Get your ass down here." It was Dean's voice that floated up to him.

Castiel froze with terror. They knew he was here? How long had they known? How did they know? Cas looked down and realized, with great relief that Dean had been praying, not directly talking to him. What was Castiel to do? Go to him? Just so he could tell him they never wanted to see him again? Castiel loved them. He couldn't do without them, especially without Dean.

What should he do?
