She couldn't believe what she was doing - letting him go?

For years she had yearned for him to be at her side, and now she was going to give it all up? For once, Blair couldn't decide if what she was doing was sheer stupidity or for the first time, the right thing. She had known since they were young that they were meant to be. He was everything she wanted, and for a long time, it had seemed that she was everything that he wanted as well.

Despite everything that had happened, they were the only thing she could really hold on to. But in the past few months, her world had been tossed around and finally thrown back. Blair could not recall a single time that her dreams for her future had not involved him. In her dream home and family, which was so unlike her own, he would be there to comfort her like no one else could have. To Blair, that would have been enough.

Looking into his eyes now, she knew that he didn't love her, maybe he never had. She had looked the other way despite all he had done to her. 'The past was the past' she had told herself. She could see now that she was wrong, oh so terribly wrong. Whether it was Serena, or another girl, it didn't matter. He would never truly be hers. She could grasp and hold on, but even she had a heart. Stepping back, Blair knew that she wanted better, she deserved better.

Gathering the little courage she had left, she told him.

" You should deal with your father. He needs you."

She could feel her heart beating faster, but her mind was for once still. Before she could back down and give into her foolish ideals yet again, she spoke.

"You know what? I don't."

Sliding into the awaiting limousine, she left him staring while she slipped away. She was leaving him, and Blair felt as if she were running. Runningso fast that her vision was blurring so she could no longer clearly see where she was going to go next. All she knew was that her heart felt like it were exploding, and it took all she had not to begin screaming and sobbing in the back of a car that so accurately described her- rich, lavish, and so desperately empty.
