A/N: I should say right now, I am a fan of Meer's, and therefore, this is not a fic meant to bash her. If you don't like Meer – or Meyrin, for that matter – then get the heck out of here. Simple as that. I'm not forcing you to read this, so do both of us a favour and simply leave.

For those who're curious, the song is 'Emotion,' and is the song Meer sings in Ep. 47.

Disclaimer: I do not own Gundam Seed (Destiny), any of its characters, or the song 'Emotion.'

Impersonator or not, Meyrin decided she would always consider Meer Campbell a songstress, especially now that she had died. Despite how little the ex-CIC knew about her, she realised that she had seen something very few people would have ever had the chance to witness – the death of one the most famous yet unknown celebrities in the world. The more Meyrin thought about it, the more those words were true – everyone recognized 'Meer' wherever she went, but no one recognized Meer wherever she went. Meyrin was part of the minority that had gotten to see a bit of Meer Campbell's real self, and that thought made her slightly proud.

Even while downloading the most well known song of the deceased imposter, Meyrin continued to think about the songstress. About her actions, what her thoughts may have been, and anything she could think of. She managed to stop thinking though when the first line of the song began to play, the upbeat music sounding familiar to her.

" 'Your shadow reflects your smile…' "

As she listened to the voice sing, tears slowly dripped from her eyes. Repeating the song over and over, she noticed how much the lyrics reflected Meer's life. And no one had ever thought about it, regardless of how often the song was sang.

What wonderful and observant fans she must have had, Meyrin frowned bitterly, knowing very well she was being sarcastic. She pushed her chair from the table, whirling it around as she resumed thinking about the songstress' life, particularly who she might have been before.

More tears fell when the red-haired girl realised that Meer gave up everything to become Lacus Clyne – her family, friends, and most of all, who she was. Even Meyrin, who had given up her family and friends to help Athrun, had kept who she was. Defecting from Zaft hadn't meant she had to change her personality, interests, memories, and everything else that made up her.

Yet Meer Campbell had had the courage to take that extra step and throw all that away.

Meer's body lay perfectly still among the pale flowers, and Meyrin couldn't help but think of Snow White. Only this was real life, meaning she could never be brought back no matter what. However, that wasn't the reason she was there – she had long ago accepted the fact that the girl there was dead.

Taking a deep breath, she sincerely hoped no one saw her doing this – that would be incredibly embarrassing. This was something private to her, not something to fall upon others' ears.

Was this how she felt whenever she sung before becoming Lacus Clyne?

With that, she opened her mouth and started to sing. Her voice wasn't anywhere as strong as Meer's or Lacus' – in fact, it was rather weak and shaky – but it grew louder as she neared the middle of the song. She knew her voice wasn't good enough to become a pop idol, but she now understood the thrill Meer must have had from singing. Even without an audience, Meyrin enjoyed herself, and felt like she was pouring her heart into the lyrics. For a moment, she forgot everything, and the only thing that existed were the words spilling from her lips.

" 'I'll close my eyes and quietly hold you…' "

Meer Campbell had been Lacus Clyne's number one fan.

And now Meyrin was hers.

A/N: Inspiration came from listening to Emotion a hundred times over and over again.
