A Tender Moment
While Zen was working on paperwork in his office, Mitsuhide thought he'd go out and take a stroll around the castle. He was starting to get sleepy so he thought some fresh air would clear the cobwebs from his head. Kiki accompanied him after leaving Obi with Zen to keep watch over him, Mitsuhide didn't understand why though. Especially since short walks around the castle weren't her favorite thing in the world.
"Did you have something you wanna talk to me about?" Mitsuhide finally asked when they reached the herb gardens. Turning around and looking at his partner with concern in his eyes.
Kiki's face was just as expressionless as ever but that didn't matter to Mitsuhide. He had known her so long that he knew what she was feeling even if her face didn't match her mood. She shook her head and gazed into his eyes. "I just thought it would be nice to get out of the office. It's rare for Obi to spend time with Zen when he's not with Shirayuki."
"That's true, he's usually off on one of his secret trips outside the castle if he's off duty. Shirayuki is with Ryu in the medical wing working on back up remedies so Obi thought he'd let her work. I actually quite like Zen and Obi together, they almost act like brothers." Mitsuhide said with a chuckle and Kiki showed one of her rare soft smiles in agreement.
For a while they stood there in the herb garden. Gazing at the beauty of all the flowers in bloom all around them while the blazing hot sun shined down upon them relentlessly. Kiki had gotten so beautiful and mature in the time that she's been with him that Mitsuhide thought that she could've been a lost princess.
"Hey Mitsuhide, stay there for a moment and don't move." Kiki said softly and he wondered why she was talking like someone might overhear her. She walked up to him and gently wrapped a hand around his neck and brought him down to her level. Mitsuhide's mind went blank as the distance between him and Kiki were closing and right before they were close enough for a kiss, Kiki smiled. "When the time comes, I hope you're ready for my proposal."
Mitsuhide felt a blush furiously covering his face but he couldn't back away from Kiki's soft grip on his neck. His heart wouldn't let him. "Kiki..." Mitsuhide said softly but he didn't know what to say after such a bold declaration.
"Even though we tell Zen everything, he doesn't need to know about this. Alright?" Kiki said, unwrapping her hand from Mitsuhide's neck and letting him rise back up.
Mitsuhide nodded his head in immediate agreement and Kiki's smile grew. She turned around and started walking back to Zen's office. "You coming?"
"Yes!" Mitsuhide replied, quickly catching up with Kiki as he tried to calm down his racing heart but he now wore a smile that he couldn't stop from beaming on his face. Together they went back to Zen's office and he hoped that Zen didn't ask him any questions about their walk together.
