Once in the arena, you never can tell
What lies behind you, heaven or hell
The bees will swarm, a fire destroys
In this game we are played like toys
A mockingjay screams from the trees above
Trapped here with a boy I've been told to love
I'm a hunter, not the prize though the camera's on me
I try to be strong for the tributes to be
Water is scarce, my mouth is dry
Will I continue or end up in the sky?
Most of us dead so I flee to the woods
Surrender? Not ever. I wouldn't if I could
The games have started, my old life behind
I want to go home- the clocks rewind
But I can't give up now, I can't lose hope
Time to leave my hideout, no time to mope
I'm running and praying I won't be found dead
No people I see, no one to shoot at my head
"Don't panic Katniss" I repeat to myself
I trip as I climb down a steep mountain shelf
There is no way out, nowhere to go
Time seems to drag on, agonizingly slow
The viewers seem to take pleasure in the fight
But I'll tell you this- my blood won't be shed tonight.
