If I Were a Boy…

A/N: What's up, everyone? This is just a spur on the moment drabble that flew into my mind real fast about Azula and I just wanted to get it down before it left me. Take it for what it's worth. Enjoy!

A calculating mind doesn't necessarily stop just because one goes just a little mad

If she were a boy…

Her father…would not have so easily discarded her whilst pursuing his reign as Phoenix king of the new world.

Her friends—Mai and Ty Lee—would not have made her have to second guess, especially Mai because she would not have even had girls for friends from the start.

No betrayal of the one in love with her brother.

Her mother….would not have sacrificed all she ever had for Zuko if there were two boys. Perhaps instead, she would have stayed.

At least stayed.

Being the prodigal son of the two would have maybe made Ozai a little happier just because she was a he—not just because she was the best of a 'bad situation'.

Being the fiercest son of the two would have made having friends as a fool's weakness.

Being the other son of the two would have made Ursa see…

nothing made Zuko special.

She was the special one.

Her.

A/N2: Firstly, I just want to say that this was sporadic and was NOT intended to mean much or really go anywhere. I wrote it off the top of my head so review at least for the content sake, not the actually piece's flow.

Also, I intentionally italicized word(s) in each fragment/sentence because those are the parts of Azula's left over superiority-complex speaking. They are (at least in my mind when I wrote this) subconsciously highlighting on what she really believes, whether or not it's true in reality.

Oh yeah, for clarification the 'bad situation' mentioned is directly talking about Zuko as a failure in general. Azula, naturally, was the best (and only) option.

R&R plz!

Peace out!
