Trust Me

Sitting tied up in a car sinking to the bottom of Lake Mead wasn't quite how Sara had planned to spend her day off.

Grissom had promised her that he had organised something fun for their anniversary but she was not quite sure she would class this as fun.

She turned to the man sat next to her, "You sure this is safe Grissom?"

He sighed. "We've been through this before, the car drops to the bottom of the lake, we grab the scuba gear and swim back up to the surface."

"And this is your idea of fun?" He gave her a hurt look and she rolled her eyes. "Never mind. How am I supposed to do that with my hands tied up?"

"I only tied your hands up because you threatened to leave, I had to do something to keep you here inside the car."

"And tying my hands together was the best thing you could come up?"

"Ok, I'll untie them, but only if you promise you'll stay inside the car. Trust me, please?"

She nodded and he reached behind her, removing the rope that he had used to bind her hands.

The crane started, lowering the car into the water and she grabbed his hand, needing the reassurance.

She panicked slightly as the water fully submerged the car but he squeezed her hand and she relaxed, waiting for the bump that would signal their arrival at the bottom of the lake.

Reaching the bottom they grabbed their oxygen tanks, taking in much needed breaths of air. Using the sign language they had learnt during their training earlier in the day Grissom asked Sara whether she was ok, she replied the affirmative and he went to open the door, only to find that it would not budge.

Turning back to Sara with a worried expression she tried her door, finding that it too would not open. Concerned that she would panic he put his hand on her shoulder, squeezing it gently to calm her. Feeling his hand she smiled at him, searching the car for another exit route.

He swam to the back of the car, trying the doors and finding them jammed shut too.

Suddenly spotting their way out she tapped him then pointed to the handle for opening the window. He turned smiling as the window slowly creaked open, thankful that they were in a car with manual back windows.

Once the window was fully open he swam out, holding out his hand to help Sara swim out.

They swam back to the surface, still holding hands, and waved at the slightly concerned looking crane operator.

Reaching dry land they paused, feeling solid ground under foot. "So, what do you think now?"

His reply was her smile -- her beautiful, beautiful smile.

The End
