This takes place after the episode "Falling Skies"

Kayo looked out at the star laid coat of darkness that stretched across the cool and breezy sky above her, with the evening settling in. She nursed her warm mug of hot chocolate and sipped away at its liquid contents.

She saw a few ripples form in the pool before her, and turned around to find Alan stirring a miniscule whirlpool within the water with his thumb.

"Nice night" he said, looking up at the stars, "That one" he added.

"That one what?" asked Kayo.

"That one's totally Thunderbird 5" Alan said, pointing upwards.

Kayo laughed, "You're just taking a blind guess, there's no way you can tell from this level down" she replied.

"Or maybe I'm going with my gut" Alan responded.

"Like Brains did when he instructed me on how to dismantle his hotel before it could crash into the Earth?" Kayo asked.

"Well, I like to remember the experiences of the day...helps lend perspective to the next twenty-four hours" Alan replied.

"What do you reckon will happen then? Think we'll all come down from the highs and start with the lows?" Kayo asked, placing the mug down on the deck chair behind her and waltzing over to Alan.

"What can make us think less of ourselves after today? Or ANY day where we save a life? It's the ideal high, the knowledge our reach has caught so many from falling" Alan insisted.

"What stops us from falling though?" Kayo responded, rubbing her shoulders tensely as she looked out at the stirring oceanview.

Alan was steadily catching on to the structure of her words.

"Kayo..don't think like that" he said.

"Think like what?" Kayo said in alarm, realizing she had'nt done a good job of hiding her concerns.

"You were joking about this earlier, we all had a chuckle, but I think we were all joining in just to help each of us ease ourselves through that bit of the conversation" Alan said.

"What do you mean?" Kayo said.

"Hey, I'm just reading you, you know how good I am at that, just as you're a dab hand at reading me" Alan responded.

"Turn the page then if you're that good" Kayo said, folding her arms and tapping her foot impatiently on the floor.

"Alright...I think you're a little guilty about leaving The Hood up there in a maverick escape pod. You don't know if he'll come down hard or soft. By switching up the relays, you may have condemned him to a crash course in landings" Alan explained.

"Why would I be so concerned? He was willing to crash that hotel and let everyone on there die were it not for our intervention" Kayo protested.

"Maybe, and maybe that wouldn't have happened if we had co-ordinated a better means of dealing with him together...something you denied us because you decide to cut loose our communication in order to give chase...why do you persist on doing that?" asked Alan.

"My reasons Alan" Kayo replied, staring back out at the ocean view, trying to keep calm as the tense nerves sent tiny shivers coursing through her body.

Alan walked over to Kayo and place a hand on her shoulder.

"If you're going to work with us in the field you have to give us a reason not to keep you in the fridge"

"Keep me in the fridge?" asked Kayo, gracing Alan's hand with her own, and giving him a warm expression

"You know...because we'd hate for you to cool off" Alan said.

"You before me" Kayo replied, and pushed Alan back into the pool before slyly walking off.

Alan spat some of the water out of his mouth as he surfaced, watching Kayo go.

"Yeah, she's got hang-ups" he said, "And we're gonna have to watch every step she takes before she misplaces one"
