Jake's POV
I sat on the couch as I watched six year old Nessie. Well she looked six years old but she was actually two and a half. I smiled as I watched her toddle into the room with grace and sat in the centre of the floor surrounded by her building blocks. Her parents were hunting, leaving me babysitting my imprint. Rose and Emmett were rebuilding their fourth home in the woods with Jasper and Esme while Carlisle was at work and Alice was shopping. Nessie had looked cute when she born but somehow she had gotten sweeter and cuter as everyday went on. She was slowly growing from her baby face to her toddler face.
I smiled as I watched Nessie as she carefully placed a bunch of building blocks on top of each other. It was all 26 letters of the alphabet and they were all in order. She was a mini genius. It was obvious she was really smart for her age, but that probably had something to do with the fact that she was a Cullen and a hybrid. But she was my smart imprint and when some guy was old enough, he would have to go through me and her family before they would be aloud near her. But hopefully she would want to be with me and no one else. Though that would probably annoy Edward but I didn't care. She was my imprint.
Nessie looked up and smiled a perfect little smile at me. "Jake look," she said in her clear voice, pointing at the blocks. I smiled over at her. How could I not smile at my imprint? She was way too cute not to smile at.
"I can see Ness, you're a smart girl," I told her. Her smile grew. I knew she loved it when I said good things about her so I tried to do it all the time, just so I could see her smile. She stood up, ran over to me and jumped onto my lap. I caught her so she didn't hurt me. But mainly so she wouldn't hurt herself. She giggled which made me smile even more. I couldn't stop smiling when she giggled. It was one of the cutest sounds I had ever heard in my whole life. A lot was changing around us but I knew my feelings about this little girl would never change. She would always have a place in my heart and I would do anything to protect her.
