Christopher grew up on the countryside. Never saw an owl.
When he was twenty-three years old he moved to a small apartment in Birmingham. The first thing he saw was an owl. It sat on the next-door neighbor's windowsill. Got let in. Left the apartment a few moments later.
This happened five more times in one week.
He met this neighbor in the hallway one afternoon.
A young woman. Stunned him.
"Oh, you're the new neighbor!" she said, shook his hand.
"Yes."
"I'm Cho."
"I'm Christopher."
She opened her door. "… Want some… food…?"
"… Yes."
Inside, an owl hit the window.
