TeFu in ShinPoT is depressing, so I wanted to give them some love they deserve.
Title: Fuji's Reasoning
Genre: Shounen ai, romance (?)
Rating: PG13
Warning: mild BL hints
A/N: the usual language problem, unbeta-ed
If people asked Fuji why he perpetually had his eyes closed, his answer would only be one thing; he wanted to show it only to Tezuka.
But since he couldn't keep them close all the time and Tezuka hardly ever made eye contact for more than a minute, he had to reveal his azure orbs occasionally.
When people asked Fuji why he had kept his hair on chin length, the answer is simple; whenever he stood beside Tezuka and the wind blows, the taller youth would be able to smell the scent of the shampoo he had used. That wouldn't be as effective if he had shorter hair.
And what about the time when they were in the U-17 camp? Fuji shared the room with Shiraishi instead of his dear buchou. His reason was clear. Different rooms would stop him from climbing into Tezuka's bed in the middle of the night. It saved them from getting involved in excessive indecent behavior.
Fuji Syuusuke would do almost everything stupid, or in the eye of a tensai like him; everything genius no one could ever think of for the sake of the earthquake-proof brick wall, namely Tezuka.
Tezuka Kunimitsu had always known Fuji's feelings. It was never a secret. They were always seen standing together, except in photos. Fuji once told the bespectacled youth that he would like to avoid from taking photos with only the two of them together. Tezuka didn't have to ask why. The value of a picture with him and Fuji in it is priceless compared to the never-ending shots of him with other imposing characters such as Atobe, Sanada or Echizen.
As time progressed and they were at the camp, Fuji didn't let Tezuka leave him for Germany so easily. Asking him for a match was another way of telling that he wouldn't let the match Tezuka had with the ex-buchou Yamato be the last one he had in Japan. It was true that he had lost because his skills was still not at par with the almost-pro youth, but heaven forbid he'd let Tezuka walk away without engraving the image of him on the court into his head. His graceful moves almost become a distraction as his jersey rode up his body, revealing some delicious, sweat covered skin.
So, why didn't Fuji stop Tezuka from leaving after he had lost, even just to say a few parting words? He knew it would be unfair to Tezuka because as stern as the young man is, Tezuka wouldn't be able to resist from cradling the petite body in his arms and wipe away all the tears from Fuji's mesmerizing blue eyes.
The tensai had to keep it together, watching the person he loves walked away for the sake of tennis. His reason for that was because Tezuka knew tennis before he knew Fuji. Tennis was Tezuka's first love, and Fuji vowed that he'll be Tezuka's last.
Fuji also wasn't as rich as his buchou. He didn't get a scholarship to fly to Germany and play pro-tennis. Nevertheless, Tezuka was there and the only way to minimize the distance between them was to be there as well. And how did Fuji get the money? He entertained customers with his piano at a number of restaurants whenever he had the chance. When the amount was enough for him to get a flight ticket to where Tezuka is, he booked a seat immediately.
If Tezuka asked Fuji what was he doing miles away from Japan and standing in the middle of the crowd of the airport in Germany, Fuji would only have one answer;
"Saa…could it be because you're here?"
Then he would drop his luggage as Tezuka opened his arms wide, waiting for Fuji to fall into his awaiting embrace…as if the reasons didn't matter at all.
