THE MIRACLE BUTTERFLY
One day a girl named Charlotte walked up to her mom and asked if they could go to the park. Her mom didn't know, so she said, let me think about it. Well the next day came and she went to school, it was picture day, before she went to school she prayed and wished that everything would go good and that she would feel happy at school. She felt out of place because everybody in her class was nicely dressed with brand new clothes and they were talking about them, but everyone was making fun of her because she was wearing the same dirty and repulsive rags she has been wearing ever since the first day of school. Before the pictures were taken everybody was telling her she couldn't be in the picture because she didn't look nice enough. One girl named Lullaby, heard all of this going on so she came and got Charlotte and went to her backpack and gave her a really pretty ocean blue dress that flowed down to her ankles. When Charlotte came out with the dress on Lullaby thought something was missing so she quickly ran to her bag and got a curling iron and mascara, she curled her hair, Lullaby went down to the gym and told Charlotte to meet her down there. Charlotte was standing there in the bathroom looking at herself crying of joyfulness that there was really someone in the world that nice. Charlotte walked out of the bathroom saying in her head, "I'm pretty no matter what." When she arrived to the gym she looked so pretty everyone went silent for a moment. Lullaby had a giant grin on her face. After the pictures were over, Charlotte went and took the dress off, trying to give it back to Lullaby, Lullaby told her to keep the dress. The rest of the evening the two girls really bonded and Charlotte felt happy again. When school was over she went home and asked her mom again if they could go to the park. Her mom said, "Yes, we'll go as a family." Charlotte and her mom then ate dinner and went to the park. On their way to the park Charlotte was telling her mom about Lullaby and about the dress she gave to her. Her mom suddenly had a smile on her face, a smile Charlotte had never seen. (Her mom was smiling because she heard her pray and wish before she went to school that morning). When they both arrived to the park, Charlotte lied on the soft, silky grass, and then she saw a butterfly, that soon flew on her hand, Charlotte thought of it as a pet, so she named the butterfly, Miracle. Charlotte wished and prayed that her family would get a home, with her very own bedroom, with a bathroom and all of the particulars. Then she wished that her mom would feel happy and the hard time that she and her daughter are going through, isn't her fault, that it's just a part of life and that they would have a car. The last thing that she wished for was to have nice clothes to wear and that she would have food to eat. The next day she woke up in school dressed in the same rags as always. But one thing was different she felt really safe. After school was over, she started crying because everyone was making fun of her again. Then she saw her mom in a car and she picked her up. Then she drove Charlotte to a house and Charlotte started crying and asked her mom why are we here? Her mom said, "This is our new home." Charlottes weeping stopped, and she ran in the house, down the hall with a smile, opened the door and it was her very own bedroom with a bed and on that bed was a giant pile of clothes. She went to her mom and her mom said that she was sorry that she thought it was her fault that Charlotte didn't have a good life. Charlotte then smiled knowing that the butterfly did help her and make her dreams come true. Charlotte went to school the next day feeling amazing and alive for the first time.
