A/n: I just had this in my mind and couldn't let it go. I have been busy with finals lately and I've been trying to update One Way or Another. I'll upload it as soon as I can. Enjoy!

"Ichigo…" Rukia mutters to him as they stand over the unconscious child and his sobbing mother. They had been on patrol when they saw a car accident happen before their eyes. A child was crossing the road to see his father who was inside a convenience store. As the child walked past, a speeding car turned the corner and didn't see him. Before Ichigo and Rukia could react, the child's mother came and pushed him out of the way. Ichigo had to look away before he heard the sound of metal hitting flesh. "Mommy wake up! Mommy why are you sleeping mommy?" The child shook his mother frantically. Rukia was glad that someone decided to put a cover on her lower midsection, she didn't want the kid to be scarred. "Mommy is here baby don't worry. It'll be fine." The weeping mother tried to hold her child but she couldn't. At this point the father came out and was first shocked then grieving. He was told that his wife and son were going to try and give him a "surprise" birthday wish by coming to his work.

Ichigo couldn't look at them. It reminded him of how his mother sacrificed her life to save him. Rukia walks towards the distressed mother. After explaining who she was and what she was going to do, the mother looked at his child one last time before being sent to Soul Society. Rukia glances at Ichigo and sees an expression she never seen before, pure sadness. She walks over to him," Ichigo, let's go, we aren't needed here anymore." "Wait here, I'll be right back." Rukia watches him flash step away and looks back at the child being hugged by his father. They were both crying. Ichigo arrives a minute later with his real body. "Ichigo what're you doing?" She asks as he walks towards the child and father. "Hey kid, look up." The child looks up along with the father. "Your mom did one of the best things she could've ever done with her life. Don't make her sacrifice a waste, live your life, be happy, protect the people you love, and fulfill your life goals." Ichigo says with a smile. The child looks up and smiles at him. After the paramedics arrive, Ichigo departs with Rukia. They don't speak a word to each other as they arrive home.

"Rukia….have you ever had to do a soul burial on a child?" Ichigo suddenly asks as she enters his room. "No…I've gotten lucky so far." She says with a low voice. "I've stormed Soul Society, defeated Aizen and his Espada, regained my soul powers, and now dealing with some Quincy group, but I never want to do that ever again." He starts saying with his voice starting to break. Rukia never saw him this way, he always seemed tough and never breakable but she realizes that no matter how strong you are, you will always have something to break you. Seeing a mother die for her child must've reminded him of his mom. "I can't Rukia I just can't." He forces the words out as he closes his eyes. Rukia sits next to him and pats his shoulder. He slowly starts to cry and Rukia without thinking pulls him in for a side hug. Ichigo doesn't complain and starts to weep in her shoulder. Rukia just holds him and rubs his head.

He still is a teenager, he still has feelings, I'm glad I am here.
