Disclaimer: I do not own the Kane Chronicles and Percy Jackson Series

AN: Hi guys, I thought I would revamp this story since it has been so long and my writing skills have improved. After I have finished rewriting the chapters I will continue with the story. For those who are new, I hope you enjoy my fanfic :)

He inhaled the musty Brooklyn air as he dawdled down the main street. Carter would be waiting for him at the Nome, but the day was so beautiful he couldn't resist a walk to the park. School has ended for the week, and Felix looked forward to the two-day break from the constant annoyance of the other kids and the shrill voiced teachers. He sighed and continued his walk. Sometime later, with the park only a few blocks away, Felix felt a disturbance. Quickly glancing into the next alley he saw sparks of lights cascading along the walls.

He paused and a smartly dressed man behind him had to swerve in order to avoid him . Apologising profusely to the man, he turned back to what had caught his attention. He crept into the alley and stopped abruptly when he saw a young girl, roughly his age, wielding a small dagger that gleamed each time the alley lit up. Before the girl stood a grand beast that was covered in a golden fur which gleamed in the light. It had giant paws, that had the ability to crush the girl with a flick of it's powerful wrist, and a tail slicing through the air behind it. The head however was that of a bird, a falcon to be more precise. It was snapping its beak at the girl, trying to catch and maim her. Each time it tried to gain purchase she rolled away and swung her dagger in its direction. The dodging and swiping was not all she was doing though. After getting over the fact that a girl was fighting a monster alone in a suburban alley, Felix could see that the bright lights he saw earlier were caused by the girl. He watched as she muttered a couple of words under her breath, and a spark of red energy slashed the bird-lion thing punctured its side.

Felix was mesmerised by the bright lights the girl was creating, he assumed it was magic, though it didn't look like any magic those at the Nome created. The girl's dark curls tangled as she dodged to and fro, and the ripped shirt she was wearing was damp with sweat. As he continued watching, the girl began to lose the fight. Her magic lights began to fade as the bird-lion cornered her. The alley grew dark and Felix had to move closer to see what was happening. He could see the fear glinting in the girl's dark eyes as she fumbled with her bronze dagger, which was more ornate than he first realised. The creature seemed to know it had her, and started swiping at her like a house cat playing with a mouse. A gleaming claw caught her leg and ripped a hole through the already tattered jeans, and it wasn't long before he saw blood began to seep through the fabric.

The monster seemed to grow bored, and in a swift motion it had the girl trapped under one of its giant paws. One of the claws sunk into her arm as it pushed her to the ground and a stream of crimson ran down her arm, slowly pooling on the dusty floor. The girl feebly stabbed the paw with her dagger using her uninjured arm, but it was no use. The once impressive dagger now seemed flimsy against the towering creature. Time seemed to slow down and Felix knew he had to do something to stop the creature from killing the girl. With a surge of adrenaline, Felix pulled out his staff and whispered a spell. To anyone else, stop generally meant to halt in place, but when Felix used the word it took on a different meaning.

At first it seemed the spell hadn't worked, but slowly veins of ice started creeping up the monster's hind legs. THe cold tentacles slithered up the beast and spread. The beast, suddenly finding itself immobilised, scratched at the glass-like casing with its beak frantically, but to no avail. The ice would not crack. It screeched, the sound tearing at his eardrums, which was ended abruptly as the frozen cage covered its whole head.

During this process, the girl lay there watching dumbfounded. When the ice crept to the creature's torso she realised she had a chance to escape its grasp, with the monster now trapped by the ice. Soon she found herself panting before the frozen creature with which she had just been fighting, cradling her injured arm and twisting her head to see her saviour. Felix, drained by the spell, was leaning next to a garbage bin in the shelter of the shadows, hidden from the sight of the strange girl.

"Hello? Is anyone there?" she called out, a mixture of fear and gratitude lacing her voice. "Who did that?"

After no one answered she turned back to face the monster. With a quick spell and a nibble of ambrosia she healed the gash on her arm and her leg, gasping at the heat of it. When she was healed she muttered another incantation. An electric blue bolt erupted from her hands and stabbed the frozen creature, shattering the frozen beast. Felix slipped back onto the main street, still reeling about everything he saw. Completing forgetting about his aim for the park, he made his way back home to tell Carter and Sadie. He needed to inform them about the strange girl who could create magic without the use of a staff, wand or hieroglyphic.

So how was it? I hope you look forward to the next chapter :)
