Author's Note: A snowstorm blew in a few days ago where I live... The first day of Spring was really dreary. The snowdrifts near my house are taller than me... I need to move.
This poem could take place either before the game - after Snow leaves to find Lightning - or after the game in a world like my story "moving on without you" where Serah doesn't die and Snow is nowhere to be found in 500AF.
[A Rain to Wash Away This Sorrow]
...
A surge of Spring-time optimism
Bright greens and pale yellows in her eyes
Everything was supposed to be warming up and thawing out
Her new life was about to begin
Ignoring the bleak forecast,
Dressing in light, flowy clothing
She set out into the world
But the wind bit her nose,
The ice under her feet made her sandals slip
And she fell into a soft pile of white flakes
Looking up, she cursed the sky:
Why snow?
It was supposed to be Spring!
But the storm blew in and froze her fresh start
It snowed,
And snowed
And she wondered why she thought she could escape him
When she lived in such a cold place
Though she wanted to move on,
Snow was all around her,
In everything she saw
It wasn't fair
Just this once
She had wanted it to rain
