"She loves me, she loves me not
My love was my decay
She loves me, she loves me not
He repeated to himself over and over
These petals decide what's next for you and I"
-Chiodos "There's No Penguins In Alaska"
He loved her and she loved him but he was not the right "him."
They had been together for so, so long. What was it now? Four years now? Yes, that was it. Once upon at time, a time that seem so long ago to Lorcan, they were so in love - the feeling had been mutual. Not now, though. Now, Lorcan loved Rose with all of his heart and soul and she, she loved him - Scorpius.
Damn that bloody Malfoy git with his perfect platinum blond hair and his striking grey eyes. Somehow Lorcan would just f a d e away when they were both in the same room; he knew that he was nothing compared to that Slytherin. But Scorpius was with Lily and he had no interest in Rose whatsoever and Rose knew that. She never came out and said that she was in love with someone else but Lorcan knew it. He saw the way that she looked at Scorpius. It was the same way that she used to look at Lorcan.
What had Lorcan ever done to wrong Rose? Nothing. Zip. Zilch. He treated her like a queen - like every girl always dreamed of being treated. He wasn't overbearing but yet, he wasn't withdrawn. He was damn perfect and all he did was love her but still, it wasn't enough for that Weasley.
What really killed the Scamander twin was that she wouldn't break up with him. She kept him there to shower her with his love and attention that she wanted but never gave in return. Every time that he came close to ending it, she would show him just enough love. Just enough to reignite that spark of hope in his heart and she knew that he wouldn't leave that way. It was true, Lorcan wouldn't leave; he couldn't if he had the slightest belief that she might start loving him again.
He wasn't as oblivious as he seemed, though - he knew oh so well what was going to happen sooner or later. He knew that the second that Scorpius got rid of Lily and showed the slightest interest in Rose, he would be tossed away like some piece of worthless trash. Forgotten.
Even with that knowledge, he could not throw it all away - not yet. He lived on the hope that she might love him again. Ironically, his life was slipping away from him with that same hope.
The lyrics above belong to the band Chiodos. I know I've said it a million times but if you listen to them please make sure Craig Owens is singing.
This was done for Aiiimy's Love Triangle Challenge in HPFC!
