Tears

I
step
out into
the cold rain
and look toward
the heavens for an
answer that will never
come. I feel the icy drops
on my skin and remember.
The gentle rain soothes me
and I cry, thinking of you.
Sadness rolls down my
cheeks, each droplet
mixing with rain.

I
know
everyone
has to go at
some time, but
I never thought it
would have been so
soon. Sad, heavy drops
flood my face and splatter
on the cool ground. The rain
stops and so do my tears. I
don't want to miss you. I
still remember, but the
tears won't come.
