Kitty looked out to the battlefield where just weeks ago she saw the Phoenix, the big sister she never had, her friend die. She and so many others had died in what they believed in, whether it was right or wrong. When she got home she looked out in the small cemetery where Jean was laid to rest. She saw a figure standing in front of Professor Xavier's tomb and recognized instantly that it was. Kitty walked to him knowing if he strikes she can just phase threw it but knew he wouldn't.
"What are you doing here?" she asked coldly.
"That's not a very welcoming is it, Kitten" he said teasingly. "Is it really hard to believe that I wanted to visit my old friend Bobby?"
"Uhhh, yeah, it is." rolling her eyes. "Why are you really here John?" knowing he wouldn't lie to her. She was his closest friend, even closer then Bobby, when he was still in school.
He sighs deeply. "When I heard Professor X died you weren't the only one heartbroken y'know. He took me in and treated me like I was his son. He didn't think I was dangerous unlike most people. He actually gave me a chance, actually he gave me lots of chances, but I blew all of them." John turned away and Kitty saw a single teardrop fall. When he turned back you would think that he never cried in his life. His expression turned from reminiscing to anger, but who was he angry at?
"When I left, I always thought of what he thought of me then. How could I have betrayed him? But I was torn between him and Magneto. So, since I didn't come to his funeral I might as well visit his grave and tell him some stuff I've been keeping in" "Like what?"
"Sorry, that's between me and him" in that teasing voice he always uses when he knows something someone else doesn't, but his face went grim once again.
She didn't know why she did it but she did. She instantly ran up to him and hugged him as hard as he could and he hugged her back. "It's not your fault he died you know." She said softly.
"I know, but sometimes I feel like it is" "Please stay." Kitty begged.
"Sorry, but I can't." he let go and kissed her forehead and walked away.
Kitty always heard people say to remember the fallen. John didn't know what to do now. When the brotherhood was defeated he escaped and didn't know where to go. He most certainly didn't go back to the institute, he had to mush pride in that. John had fallen, but Kitty would always be there to pick him up.
