Hello again! *sighs* This is so short...I'm not sure why I'm posting it...I should be reading homework...boo hoo. Writing GX fanfiction's more fun...and I'm almost done with my reading anyway...

I think this is almost 400 words...still really short. It's not even a one-shot, it's a mini-shot.

Syrus: ^^ I like it!

Zane: You're sucking up again.

Syrus: You should try it sometime...she might not beat you up so much.

Anyway, read and enjoy...and any review is appreciated. And Alyssa, let me know what you think of your OC counterpart...let me know if she isn't in character!

Niko sighed as she lay on her bed, deep in thought. She heard a screech outside. She stood and walked to her window in time to see a flash of dark blue.

She stepped outside carefully, quietly. Her bare feet made no noise against the wood of the deck outside the dorm room door. She looked around, and came face-to-face with a blue jay sitting on the railing. She blinked, and a smile began to spread slowly over her face.

She chirped lightly, and stood still. The blue jay screeched again. He tilted his head and studied her suspiciously. She tilted her head and watched him. He hopped closer, but still kept a good distance between them.

Niko turned her head, and saw Zane and Atticus walking toward the dorm. She could hear Atticus' excited chatter. She smiled and turned back to the blue jay. She whistled a small tune. The blue jay hopped closer.

CRREEAAK......

Niko turned. She heard Syrus coming around the corner, talking quietly with Alyssa. After they had made the corner to see her standing there in her bare feet, they gave her a funny look. She tilted her head toward the blue jay. Alyssa's eyes lit up. She walked toward the blue jay slowly. The blue jay looked from Niko to Alyssa to Syrus. It hopped up to Niko. When he was right at her feet he looked up at her with a look of wonder and interest. She smiled at him.

Alyssa whistled a much more complex tune than Niko had. The blue jay twisted his neck to observe her. He hopped three times, then flew up onto her shoulder. She turned and smiled at him. He sang again.

"Hey, I didn't know blue jays sang," Atticus commented. Niko grinned at him.

"They keep their guard around other birds and humans," she explained. She turned and looked Zane in the eyes, smiling sweetly.

"And they sing better than any other bird," she finished. Alyssa whistled again. The blue jay looked at everyone in turn, then flew off gracefully. Atticus turned and smirked at Zane again.

"So, like I was saying, I still think the women with the long necks in National Geographic are better than than the ones in Playboy and Penthouse."

Hope you enjoyed it...I told you it was short. *shivers* It's so cold where I am right now. And it doesn't help that it's almost midnight.

Zane: Whiner.

Me: Hey, it's not like I wear a turtleneck, a thick jacket, and pants all the time...

Zane: Are you making fun of my uniform?

Me: Nope! I think it's cute on you!

Syrus: I think you just signed your own death sentence...

Thanks for reading! And I'm trying to write another chapter for Artist's Rendition...but school's pretty hectic right now...I'll try to post again soon!
