I literally wrote this in ten minutes idk

"Farkle."

"No."

"Hey, Farkle."

"No."

"Faaaarkle."

"Maya, shut up."

"How did Harry Potter get down the hill?"

"..."

"Farkle, you have to ask 'how'!"

"I'd really rather not."

"Farkle Farkle Farkle Farkle Farkle Farkle Farkle Farkle-"

"OKAY, okay, how did Harry Potter get down the hill?"

"By walking."

"...Seriously?"

"J.K, Rowling!"

"Are you kidding me?"

"Technically, yes."

Farkle sighed, running a hand through his hair. He and his blonde accomplice were currently in the mall's Gamestop, trying to find his girlfriend the perfect birthday gift. He had thought it would be a good idea to bring Maya, because no one knew Riley better, but so far all she'd contributed to the outing were awful jokes. She was driving him crazy. He swiftly turned to face her, placing his hands on her shoulders.

"Stay." he commanded. She bunched up her eyebrows, offended, but didn't budge as he slowly made his way to the next aisle. Maya shrugged, turning to inspect a Lego Batman game sitting on the shelf beside her.

"Hey Farkle," she whispered, peering through the grated stand to see her friend on the other side. He sighed in response, and she heard the smack as his palm connected with his forehead. She took it as a sign to continue.

"What do you call it when Batman doesn't go to church?"

"I'm ignoring you." Farkle finally said, beginning to walk away.

"Christian Bale!" she stated loudly, jumping up to try and see over the shelves. Farkle didn't respond, probably already another aisle away from her, but she turned swiftly at the sound of a snort behind her. Standing at the end of the aisle, holding a small plush wookie, was a tall boy with sandy hair and bright green eyes. He met her gaze and smiled awkwardly, muttering a 'sorry'. Maya smiled back, making her way over to him.

"No need to apologize, I know I'm hilarious. My friend Farkle over there just has no sense of humor-"

"I heard that!" came a distant interruption.

Maya grinned and stuck out her hand. "Maya Hart, at your service. You need jokes, I got em'."

Lucas smiled down at her and shook her hand. "I'm Lucas, nice to meet you."

She gasped suddenly, developing a devious smile. "Are you from Texas?"

"Why yes, yes I am."

"Oh, this is too good," she laughed. "So what brings you to the big city, Cowboy?"

"Oh, you know. More video games, more cute blondes, what's not to like?" he said slyly. The teasing smirk fell from Maya's face and she looked down, blushing.

"Touche," she muttered, looking back up. "So whaddya say we ditch this joint? I hear the froyo is pretty good here," Maya changed the subject.

Lucas contemplated for a moment. Was it normal to hang out with strangers? In Texas, no. In New York? Still probably no. But this girl was fiery and adorable and, like, 5'0, so it's not like she was going to kidnap him.

As soon as he shrugged, before he even got so much as a 'why not' out, Maya grinned and grabbed his hand, pulling him from the Gamestop and out into the mall. And even though they had just met, he couldn't help but feel like their hands fit together pretty perfectly. He had a feeling this new friendship was going to last.
