iWanna Hold You Forever
-Drabble-

It took him awhile to figure it out; women weren't his best subject. But when he put together the pieces of the enigma she was, things weren't so confusing anymore. Knowing her and understanding her were very different things, but he gets it now, he gets her. So when she comes to him, when she's willing to share even a little bit, he opens up his arms and he holds her. He says nothing and he knows that eventually she'll step back, close up, but he's got her for now.

He had his questions, his worries, but he keeps those at bay when she leans in one night, when she kisses him square on the lips and offers no reasons, no answers. She just buries her fingers in his hair and presses her soft lips to his, breathes her breath into his mouth and sighs, soft, reminiscent. And he holds her, holds her hair between his fingers, her hand in his own, her body close.

And when her world falls apart, when the walls she builds fall to pieces, he holds her. She's got nothing but harsh words and spitting fury, but he sits on the ground and he cradles her close until she's done screaming and crying. Because there's nobody else who will, nobody else who can. She goes to him and he's always there, will always be there.

He thinks he could hold her forever, could be there to catch the elusive and often violent Sam Puckett through all her falls. She denies this, brushes it off. "In your dreams, Dorkwad." But she still comes, through bad dreams and fears, through the good and the sad, when her cheeks are still wet from tears she won't admit to crying.

And he holds her; always.
