Nettlekit's Fall

Challenge/Poem for the forum BunnyClan

She comes into the world one magnificent day,

Near her mother, she drank and she lay.

Then comes the moment where she opens those eyes,

Telling the dark world farewells and goodbyes.

Her mind is opened, her curiosity grows,

Be careful little mind what you know.

She meets those around her,

Oh how friendly they were.

Some were older, some were younger,

Others, they said, were up there, yonder.

She greeted new friends and played with them,

Causing ruckus and overall mayhem.

She laughed, she smiled,

Acting foolish, acting wild.

One day, she and her friends decide to explore,

Beyond the camp, beyond the bramble doors.

They wait until night,

To disappear out of sight,

Hoping to see despite the lack of light.

As they enter into the wood,

They go farther than they should.

Soon they find themselves facing a den,

But it was no ordinary den, no, no, no.

It was a scary, frightening, fox's den.

"There's nothing there," she declared.

Among her friends, uncertain looks were shared.

"Fine, if you don't believe me," said she,

"I'll prove it, I'll go in there, you'll see!"

With one brave leap she entered the cave,

You can do this, she thought. You're strong and you're brave.

As she realized with triumph that there's no one inside,

She turned around to gloat, "See? I wouldn't lie!"

But as she gloated, she didn't notice,

The glowing amber eyes filled with menace.

She died that night a gruesome fall,

Up to StarClan she went, to spend her days in all.

The End.
