It seemed like there was no end of Naraku's scent in the air. The night was coming in and Rin and Jaken were whimpering as hard as they could to make Sesshoumaru stop for the night. They stopped when they eventually came across a lake. Rin was already half asleep when she slid down from Awn.

"Night, my Lord," said Rin to Sesshoumaru, sleepily.

Sesshoumaru was wordless like always. He just stared at the silver orb that hung in the sky, all of its wide expanse shining in its full glory. It was awkward to wait for such a long time, but Rin decided to wait for a reply even though she was very sleepy. The moon's gentle rays shone down upon his pale skin, giving him a white glow in the shadowy night. His very presence woke her up and her cheeks turned slightly pink. After all, she was still a girl and like many others of her age, she was susceptible to losing her heart to another. Sesshoumaru didn't seem to notice her gaze when he brushed past her. Rin let out a sigh after seeing him disappear into the shadow of the forest.

"I wonder if Lord Sesshoumaru ever loved any women in his life," she murmured as she lay beside snoring Jaken.

When Sesshoumaru returned, he sat down on the dewy ground, leaning his back on an old tree that was near Rin and Jaken. The tree gave off a dozy, pleasant scent. He shut his eyes slowly with a deep, silent sigh. Within a few seconds, he was asleep.

A flying sensation wrought itself through Sesshoumaru's body, and he found himself in some beautiful surroundings, with cherry blossom petals dancing about in the breeze. Sesshoumaru looked around, beginning to walk. He stopped at a small pond and he saw a reflection of a woman, her long, glossy black hair swaying in the wind. Her back was turned to him, but she turned around. Her eyes were filled with tears. He only had a second to look at her face, but Sesshoumaru knew she was somewhat familiar. However, he had never even met this woman. As if it had been an illusion, the surroundings and the trees disappeared, leaving a barren, desert-like valley before him as he stood upon a ridge

"Inu-Yasha!" A different woman screamed.

He looked down. He saw his halfwit brother battling with the same woman he had seen on the shores of the pond. Then Sesshoumaru heard the snap of a bow and the whistle of an arrow flying through the air, and then the dream changed yet again. He was standing in a white light. The cherry blossom petals had appeared once more, drifting down like snowflakes.
Before him, stood the same woman. The tear marks that were under her eyes began to disappear, and he realized that he held the Tenseiga, the sword that could not kill, in his hands. Then, as if someone was controlling him, his arm lifted up the sword. The cold blade sliced through the air, creating golden streaks. It ripped her flesh and he watched her falling upon the ground. She panted as her blood spread around her. It was sinisterly, dark red.

She stopped panting and raised herself on her elbow and looked straight into his eyes. It didn't seem like a dream anymore. She spoke two words in a voice barely above a whisper; He strained to hear her words, but too soon she vanished into thin air, and Sesshoumaru woke up. He realized, then, that this wasn't just a dream.
