The air was damp and humid. It gave off the impression that it was choking you.

She had no memory of how she had gotten here, sprawled out on a stone floor, unconscious. Her body slowly began regaining consciousness. It started with a twitch of her fingers as her clouded mind had begun to clear. Her legs began moving, pins and needles throughout them from the lack of movement for so long. It felt as though she had been drugged, possibly knocked out. She doubted that either of these things was done willingly.

When her eyes finally opened, crusty from being closed for so long in a dreamless sleep, she saw that she was no longer on the road she had known so well a mile or two away from her house. No, she was no longer safely headed in the direction of the local park for maybe a stroll through the greenery or a day full of guessing what clouds looked like ponies and which were dolphins.

Dull Brown eyes blinked only to come face to face with a wall made of mortar and huge stone blocks. She tried to scramble away from the wall and into a standing position out of fright only to find that her legs were as shaky as overcooked spaghetti and her vision was dotted with a rainbow assortment of dots due to fatigue. Finally gaining her balance she looked around the room only to feel her heart speed up in the realization that she had absolutely no idea where she was. The surprisingly tidy workbench and the table in the middle of the room were completely unfamiliar to her. She had never been in a place that was so cold yet seemingly damp with humidity, the smell of mold never leaving the air. A small, barred window near the high ceiling let in a small stream of sunlight that couldn't remove the chill the room brought on.

Out of all of these interesting things in her new environment, one thing in particular caught her eye.

With slow, cautious steps, she made her way over to the table in the center of the room. As she brushed her brown hair aside it dawned on her that her glasses must have gotten lost and possibly damaged in her "adventure" to her present destination. Once she got close enough to see properly, about a foot or so away, it only made her more curious. The table looked sturdy enough, made out of wood that was well worn with age. What lay on top of the table was what she was really eager to inspect. There was a lump on the table underneath a gray woolen blanket.

Now that she was close enough to inspect what was blurry just a little while ago she saw that the "lump" wasn't actually a lump, really. It looked like a human body, laying there lifeless. Curiosity getting the best of her, she hesitantly lifted the edge of the heavy blanket, heart pounding wildly.
